The epidemic diseases have been existing since ancient times. The early epidemic diseases were named as to be plague, leprosy, tuberculosis, and malaria. Today, various epidemic outbreaks have been around as well. During Medieval Age, people in both Europe and Islamic countries faced many destruction and deaths because of the epidemic diseases. Thousands of people died because of plague, leprosy, and malaria that were also referred as Black Death. Countless of people in Europe were also isolated and left alone to death. However, in Islamic countries, it was not the case. People in the Islamic countries paid attention to the people with epidemic diseases, and the doctors who helped these people were well-respected. Famous doctors such as İbn Nefis, İbn Sina, and Razi shone in this era and searched for the treatment of epidemic diseases. Many doctors also tried to find a way of treatment for the epidemic diseases. Among these treatments were clinic therapies, surgeries, herbal treatments, and musical therapy that has recently been a popular treatment. The Islamic world created opportunities for the people who were diagnosed with epidemic diseases by opening hospitals that were known as `Darüşşifa`.The basic idea of this thesis is learning of the past of these subjects that are mentioned. We have tried to do this thesis in the light of these sources.

Salgın hastalıklar ilk çağlardan bu yana hep var olmuştur. Bu salgın hastalıklar o dönemlerde veba, cüzzam, tüberküloz, sıtma gibi isimlerle adlandırılmıştır. Nitekim bu salgınlar sebebiyle Orta Çağ'da gerek İslam alemi gerek Avrupa olsun insanlar birçok yıkım ve ölümle karşı karşıya kalmıştır. Binlerce insan adına kara ölüm de denen vebadan, cüzzamdan, sıtmadan hayatını kaybetmiştir. Birçoğu da özellikle Avrupa'da dışlanmış ve ölüme terk edilmiştir. Ancak bu durum İslam Dünya'sında bu şekilde olmamıştır. İslam alemi herkese hoşgörü ile yaklaşırken hastalarına ve onlara yardım eli uzatan, onları tedavi ile meşgul olan hekimlerine her zaman saygı duymuştur. İbn Nefis, İbn Sina, Razi gibi daha birçok İslam bilgini bu dönemde yetişmiş ve salgın hastalıklar için çareler aramışlardır. Bu hekimler gibi birçok İslam bilgini çeşitli tedavi yöntemleri geliştirmiştir. Bu yöntemlerin arasında tıbbi, cerrahi, bitkilerle tedavi yöntemleri ile son dönemlerde adı çokça duyulan müzikle tedavi yöntemleri bulunmaktadır. İslam dünyası hastalarına ve hekimlerine gösterdiği özeni kurmuş oldukları darüşşifalar, hastaneler ile de desteklemiştir.Bahsedilen tüm bu konuların geçmişini öğrenmek tezimizin asıl amacı olmuştur. Bu konularda edinmiş olduğumuz kaynaklar ışığında tezimizi oluşturmaya çalıştık.
