This study was conducted as a semi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test control group to determine the effect of web-based training provided to individuals with spinal cord injury on complication control and the quality of life of individuals. Data of the study were collected between January 2017 and November 2017. The sample of the study consisted of 62 male individuals who were about to be discharged from two separate hospitals and diagnosed as paraplegic. The training, monitoring and data collection steps in the study are carried out via the web page `www.omurgahemsirelikegitim.com` and by phone calls. Individuals participating in the study were trained with eight training module and application videos intended for disease complications. While collecting the data, `Individual Data Collection Form`, `Data Collection Form for Complications / Complaints Based on Functional Health Patterns of Spinal Cord Injured Individuals`, `World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale-Short Form` were used. IBM SPSS Statistics 22 program was used for statistical analysis of data. The most frequent disease complications are urinary tract infection, spasticity, constipation, sexually related problems, and orthostatic hypotension. It was determined a significant difference complications related to respiratory, circulatory, gastrointestinal, urological, musculoskeletal systems between experimental and control groups (p<0,05). In the experimental and control groups, the increase in the rate of difficulty in sexual life after injury was found statistically significant in first and final evaluation test comparisons (p<0,05). It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of quality of life scale subscale scores (p> 0,05). These results have shown that telephone monitoring along with web based training is effective in controlling the complications of individuals with spinal cord injury. However, in order to improve the quality of life, it is important to establish interventions involving health, social and mental health services, including individuals and families.

Bu çalışma omurilik hasarlı bireylere verilen web tabanlı eğitimin komplikasyon kontrolüne ve bireylerin yaşam kalitesine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla, ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel çalışma olarak yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri Ocak-Kasım 2017 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini iki ayrı hastaneden taburculuğu planlanan, parapleji tanısı almış hastalar oluşturmuştur. Çalışma grubunu 62 erkek birey oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada eğitim, izlem ve veri toplama aşamaları `www.omurgahemsirelikegitim.com` isimli web sayfası üzerinden ve telefon görüşmeleri ile sağlanmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan bireylere hastalık komplikasyonlarına yönelik sekiz eğitim modülü ve uygulama videoları web sitesine yüklenerek eğitim verilmiştir. Veri toplamada `Bireysel Veri Toplama Formu`, `Omurilik Hasarlı Bireylerde Görülen Komplikasyonlar ve Sorunlara Yönelik Veri Toplama Formu`, ` Dünya Sağlık Örgütü Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği Kısa Formu` kullanılmıştır. Verilerin istatistiksel analizleri için IBM SPSS Statistics 22 programı kullanılmıştır. Omurilik hasarlı bireylerde sık yaşanılan hastalık komplikasyonları; idrar yolu enfeksiyonu, spastisite, konstipasyon, cinsellikle ilgili sorunlar, ortostatik hipotansiyon olarak belirlenmiştir. Solunum, dolaşım, gastrointastinal, üriner, kas iskelet sistemlerine yönelik ortaya çıkan komplikasyonlarda deney ve kontrol gruplar arasında farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Deney ve Kontrol grubunda, ilk ve son değerlendirme testi karşılaştırmasında yaralanmadan sonra, cinsel hayatta güçlük yaşama oranında görülen artışlar istatistiksel olarak anlamlı saptanmıştır (p<0,05). Yaşam kalitesi ölçeği alt boyut puanları açısından iki grup arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılığın olmadığı belirlenmiştir (p>0,05). Bu sonuçlar omurilik hasarlı bireylerde hastalık komplikasyonlarının kontrolünde, web tabanlı eğitimle birlikte telefonla izlemin etkin olduğunu göstermiştir. Ancak yaşam kalitesinin geliştirilmesi için birey ve aileyi kapsayan, fiziksel, sosyal ve ruh sağlığı hizmetlerini içeren müdahalelerin oluşturulması önemlidir.
