Polymer composites comprising carbon nanotubes, lower amounts of filler, have high electrical conductivity and improved mechanical properties (Andrews et al, 2002). However, the biggest drawback of chemical carbon nanotubes having a non-active surface; is inadequate in the distribution of composites and interfacial interaction. This may cause a decrease of electrical and mechanical properties of the composite. The surface of the carbon nanotubes to be used in preparing composites by applying chemical activating process, in improving the structural properties of the preferred embodiment (Lopez et al, 2005). Moreover, surfactants as providing a homogeneous dispersion with a smaller particle size of the carbon nanotubes in the polymer matrix can help to improve the composite properties. Reinforced polymer composites using carbon nanotubes, known as multi-dimensional composites and high-performance materials in terms of the features they have (Seo and Park, 2004). These materials are conventional engineering materials (metals, ceramics and plastics) as compared to have different mechanical properties. In this study different from other studies in the literature, the polypropylene by melt mixing method (PP) based, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) containing Nano composites produces with high mechanical and electrical properties and besides their tensile and fatigue tests, changes in electrical resistance and also thermal analysis were investigated.Contact angle measurements (DSA), for the characterization of the prepared Nano composite, the surface energy calculations, morphological features, FTIR and ATR spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), mechanical strength tests, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis and electrical conductivity measurements were made.

Karbon nanotüp içeren iletken polimer kompozitleri, düşük dolgu maddesi miktarlarında, yüksek elektriksel iletkenlik ve gelişmiş mekanik özelliklere sahiptirler (Andrews ve diğerleri, 2002). Fakat karbon nanotüplerin en büyük dezavantajları kimyasal olarak aktif olmayan bir yüzeye sahip olmaları; kompozit içerisindeki dağılımlarının ve ara yüzey etkileşimlerinin yetersiz olmasıdır. Bu durum, kompozitlerin elektriksel ve mekanik özelliklerinin azalmasına sebep olabilir. Kompozit hazırlanmasında kullanılacak karbon nanotüplerin yüzeyini kimyasal işlem uygulayarak aktif hale getirmek, yapısal özelliklerin geliştirilmesinde tercih edilen bir uygulamadır (Lopez ve diğerleri, 2005). Ayrıca, yüzey aktif maddeleri karbon nanotüplerin polimer matris içerisinde daha küçük parçacık boyutuna sahip olarak homojen dağılmasını sağlayıp, kompozit özelliklerinin geliştirilmesine yardımcı olabilir. Karbon nanotüp kullanılarak güçlendirilmiş polimer kompozitler, çok boyutlu kompozitler olarak bilinirler ve sahip oldukları özellikler bakımından yüksek performanslı malzemelerdir (Seo ve Park, 2004). Bu malzemeler, geleneksel mühendislik malzemeleri (metaller, seramikler ve plastikler) ile karşılaştırıldıklarında farklı mekanik özelliklere sahiptirler. Bu çalışmada literatürdeki benzer çalışmalardan farklı olarak, eriyik karıştırma yöntemiyle polipropilen (PP) bazlı, çok duvarlı karbon nanotüp (ÇDKNT) içeren nanokompozitler üretilerek yüksek mekanik özelliklere sahip nanokompozitlerin darbe, çekme ve yorulma testleri ile beraber, elektriksel dirençlerindeki değişimler ve termal analizler ölçülerek araştırılmıştır.Hazırlanan nanokompozitlerin karakterizasyonunda temas açı ölçümleri (DSA), yüzey enerji hesaplamaları, morfolojik özellikleri, FTIR ve ATR spektroskopisi, atomik kuvvet mikroskobu (AFM), mekanik dayanım testleri, Termogravimetrik analizi (TGA), dinamik mekanik analizi ve elektriksel iletkenlik ölçümleri yapılmıştır.
