Objective: Objective of this research is testing of the quality of natural retrusive movement imitation of two articulators with different retrusion mechanisms. Material and Methods: The research includes 35 students with Angle Class I occlusion from the Istanbul University-Faculty of Stomatology. There was taken digital volumetric tomography of temporomandibular joints of the subjects. Using 3D electronic analysis method, there was identified the direction of mandibular retrusion and its amount, and finally gaining lower-upper jaw models, the models were mounted in the articulators where there was identified in-mouth and in-articulators teeth contact while in retrusive movement. Results: The retrusive movement was found to be on the right side in average 0.6 mm while on the left side 0.5 mm. In the examined subjects, there was noticed that, the left joint retrusive movement direction on the 29 is backwards and up, on the 5 backwards and down, on 1 backwards and straight. The direction of the right retrusive movement shows the same dispersion as the left side; where the condyle of 34 individuals move backwards and up, and condyle of only 1 individual move backwards and down. On the evaluation of the contact conformity between retrusion facets in the mouth and the articulators, it was noticed that it remains in around 0.6 mm in both articulators. Conclusion: The retrusive movement amount was found to be 0.6 mm; where this backwards move in our young population is not directing backwards and down, but it is backwards and straight. We leaned on situation being related to joint spacing or joint position, the fact which we could not support statistically. Within the limitations of this study different retrusion mechanisms of articulators did not have a significant effect over occlusion. Although in articulators, capacity of retrusion movement is necessary. Key words: Retrusion, Articulator, Joint position.
Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, farklı retrüzyon mekanizmalarına sahip iki artikülatörün, doğal retrüzyon hareketini taklit etmedeki üstünlüğünü test etmektedir.Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmamıza İstanbul Üniversitesi Diş Hekimiği Fakültesi öğrencileri arasından seçilen Angel sınıf I okluzyona sahip 35 birey dahil edilmiştir.
