Foot anatomy is more different in terms of pressure mechanics and diseases than the other parts. Toe is a special body part that carries 90% of the weight transferred to the ground. Therefore, toe diseases affect negatively daily life and decreases life quality of the person. Hallux Valgus Deformity is the most frequent disease and a reason for function loss within the foot diseases. Hallux Valgus Deformity is a foot disease characterized by valgus deflection of the first metatarsophalangeal joint, pronation of phalanx proximal, and its subluxation. Hallux Valgus Deformity that developed due to multifactorial reasons causes to the problems as like function loss, pain, cannot wear requested shoes etc. In addition to physical symptoms, aesthetic concerns are observed in patients. Our studies have shown that etiology and prevalence of the Hallux Valgus Deformity are comprehensive and a matter of debate yet. It is defended that many factors are affected etiologically into the Hallux Valgus Deformity. The purpose of this stud is that researching the relationship of ossa metatarsi areas with Hallux Valgus Deformity. 100 female cases (50 patient person, 50 healthy person), who were applied to the Karabük University Training and Research Hospital with various reasons previously, whose direct foot radiography were taken, and randomly selected between ages 20-40 are available in our study. The images evaluated by a specialist radiologist have been grouped as normal and Hallux Valgus cases. The patients, who had an applied operation, fracture, and subluxation finding, were excluded from the study. The radiological images for the study purpose were selected randomly from the hospital PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) archive system. All radiographies have been acquired from the patient, whose radiographies were taken by using of the digital uni-directional radiography device (Jumong, SG Healthcare, Korea). Foot radiographies available at PACS archive system were saved in DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) format and transferred to the personal workstation (ImageJ). Planimetry and angle measuring tools at program were used for the measurement. According to the measurement results; average projection areas for os metatarsale I, II, III, IV and V were determined respectively 1086,8 mm², 703,9 mm², 617,2 mm², 629,0 mm² and 747,2 mm² in the Hallux Valgus cases, while these were 1084,0 mm², 680,3 mm², 615,8 mm², 622,4 mm² and 782,8 mm² in the health people (p>0,05). The ratios of os metatarsale I, II, III, IV and V areas with all ossa metatarsi areas were determined respectively 28,75%, 18,58%, 16,28%, 16,59% and 19,77% in the Hallux Valgus cases, while these were 28,67%, 17,99%, 16,23%, 16,38% and 20,71% in the health people (Table 4). According to this, it has determined that the ratio of the projection area of os metatarsale V to all ossa metatarsi areas' total is less than the health people in the Hallux Valgus cases (p=0,027).Keywords: Hallux Valgus, ossa metatarsi, metatarsophalangeal joint, Hallux ValgusAngle (HVA).

Ayak anatomisi, yüklenme mekanikleri ve hastalıkları açısından diğer bölgelere göre farklılık gösterir. Başparmak, yere transfer edilen ağırlığın yaklaşık olarak %90'ını yüklenen özel bir bölgedir. Bu nedenle ayak başparmağının hastalıkları, bireyin günlük yaşamını olumsuz etkilemekte ve yaşam kalitesini düşürmektedir. Ayak hastalıkları arasında en sık görülen ve fonksiyon kaybına neden olan durum Halluks Valgus deformitesidir. Halluks Valgus deformitesi birinci metatarsofalangeal ekleminin valgus açılanması, phalanx proksimalis'in pronasyonu ve subluksasyonu ile karakterizedir. Multifaktöriyel nedenlere bağlı olarak gelişen Halluks Valgus deformitesi hastalarda fonksiyon kaybı, ağrı, istenilen ayakkabıyı giyememe gibi sorunlara neden olmaktadır. Fiziksel semptomlarının yanı sıra hastalarda estetik kaygılar da görülmektedir. Halluks Valgus deformitesinin etiyolojisi ve prevalansı çok kapsamlı olup hala tartışmalı bir konudur. Etiyolojik olarak Halluks Valgus deformitesinde birçok faktörün etkili olduğu savunulmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ossa metatarsi alanlarının Halluks Valgus deformitesi ile ilişkisini araştırmaktır. Çalışmamızda, daha önceden çeşitli nedenler ile Karabük Üniversitesi Karabük Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesine başvurmuş ve direkt ayak grafisi çektirmiş olan 20-60 yaş arası 100 kadın (50 hasta, 50 sağlam) olgu yer almaktadır. Hastane PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) arşiv sisteminden rastgele seçilen görüntüler uzman bir radyolog tarafından değerlendirilerek normal ve Halluks Valgus olguları olarak gruplandı. Tüm grafiler, dijital tek tüplü röntgen cihazı (Jumong, SG Healthcare, Kore) kullanılarak çekimi yapılan hastalardan elde edildi. PACS arşiv sisteminde bulunan ayak grafileri DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) formatında kaydedilerek kişisel iş istasyonuna (ImageJ programı) aktarıldı. Ölçümler için program üzerindeki alan ve açı ölçüm araçları kullanıldı. Ölçüm sonuçlarına göre os metatarsale I, II, III, IV ve V için ortalama izdüşüm alanları Halluks Valgus olgularında sırasıyla; 1086,8 mm², 703,9 mm², 617,2 mm², 629,0 mm² ve 747,2 mm² iken; sağlıklı bireylerde 1084,0 mm², 680,3 mm², 615,8 mm², 622,4 mm² ve 782,8 mm² olarak bulundu (p>0,05). Os metatarsale I, II, III, IV ve V alanlarının tüm ossa metatarsi alanlarına oranı Halluks Valgus olgularında sırasıyla; %28,75, %18,58, %16,28, %16,59 ve %19,77 iken; bu oranlar sağlıklı bireylerde %28,67, %17,99, %16,23, %16,38 ve %20,71 olarak bulundu.
