Throughout history, people have travelled for various reasons. Technological developments over time have facilitated the lives of people. During this period, people began to see the holiday as a need thanks to cheaper travels. People has also participated in holiday movements that will satisfy them and protect them from stress that have been brought by the intensive working life. Millions of people now continue to travel from places where they live to other places for various reasons. The increase in holiday movements has led to the emergence of the so-called tourism sector. With the development of the tourism sector, issues such as the choice of resort and the reasons underlying the choices of individuals have gained more importance.In this context, the aim of this study is to define the factors that affect the motivation and the choice of holiday destinations of the employees working in the iron and steel industry and to determine whether these factors are evaluated differently in terms of demographic and holiday characteristics. For this purpose, a field study was carried out for the employees working in the iron and steel sector. The data obtained by survey technique were examined using SPSS 22 package program. As a result of the analyses, it was found that the opinions of the participants about the holiday motivation and the factors affecting the choice of the resort are positive. In addition, it has been shown that these thoughts differ according to the demographic characteristics of the employees and the characteristics of their travel.

Tarihsel süreç içerisinde insanlar çeşitli nedenlerle seyahat etmişlerdir. Zaman içerisinde yaşanan teknolojik gelişmeler insanların yaşamlarını kolaylaştırmıştır. Bu dönemde insanlar seyahatlerin de ucuzlamasıyla birlikte tatili bir ihtiyaç olarak görmeye başlamışlardır. Diğer taraftan insanlar yoğun çalışma hayatının beraberinde getirmiş olduğu stres vb. sorunlar nedeniyle bedensel ve zihinsel sorunlarının üstesinden gelmek için boş zamanlarını kullanmak üzere kendilerini tatmin edecek ve stresten koruyacak tatil hareketlerine katılmaktadırlar. Günümüzde milyonlarca insan çeşitli sebeplerden dolayı yaşadıkları yerlerden başka yerlere geçici sürelerle seyahat etmeye devam etmektedir. Tatil hareketlerinde yaşanan artış günümüzde turizm olarak adlandırılan sektörün doğmasına neden olmuştur. Turizm sektörünün gelişmesi ile birlikte ise tatil yerinin seçimi ve bireylerin tatil seçimlerinin altında yatan nedenler gibi konular önem kazanmıştır.Bu kapsamda araştırmanın amacı demir-çelik sektöründe çalışanların tatil motivasyonunu ve tatil yeri seçimini etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi ve bu belirlenen faktörlerin demografik özellikler ve tatile yönelik özellikler açısından farklı değerlendirilip değerlendirilmediğinin belirlenmesidir. Bu amaçla demir-çelik sektöründe faaliyet gösteren çalışanlara yönelik olarak bir alan çalışması yapılmıştır. Anket tekniği ile elde edilen veriler SPSS 22 paket programı kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda tatil motivasyonlarını ve tatil yeri seçimini etkileyen faktörlere ilişkin düşüncelerinin olumlu düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca çalışanların bu düşüncelerinin demografik özelliklere ve yaptıkları seyahatin özelliklerine göre farklılıklar gösterdiği ortaya konulmuştur.
