In this study, the influence of nitrogen sources (NaNO2, (NH4)2CO3 and CH4N2O) on growth and biochemical composition of Cystoseira barbata (Stackhouse) C. Agardh was studied. During the experiments, the highest growth rate and biomass yield was determined as 1,26 / day% (control) and 64,90 g/m2 (0,05 g/l/day NaNO2), respectively. The significant differences were determined in growth rates and biomass yield among the experimental groups (p<0,05). At the end of the study, the proximate compositions of the experimental groups were analyzed. The maximum lipid, protein, ash and carbohydrate contents were measured as 3,51±0,04 % (0,05 g/l/day (NH4)2CO3), 22,70±0,23 % (0,025 g/l/day CH4N2O), 36,33±0,33 % (0,0625 g/l/day CH4N2O), 55,90±0,44 % (0,05 g/l/day NaNO2), respectively. The statistical significant differences were determined between the groups (p<0,05). The maximum chlorophyll a, b, c and total carotenoid 1,78 mg/g (0,1 g/l/day NaNO2), 0,07 mg/g (0,0375 g/l/day CH4N2O), 0,41 mg/g (0,1 g/l/day NaNO2), 0,62 mg/g (0,1 g/l/day NaNO2) olarak respectively. Also, the sodium alginate contents of the groups were studied and the highest sodium alginate content was determined as 19,98±0,88 % (0,125 g/l/day NaNO2).At the end of the study, it was seen that NaNO2 may be replaced by NaNO3 in C. barbata cultures in order to increase biomass yield and alginate production.Keywords: Cystoseira barbata, Culture, Nitrogen Sources, Growth Rate, Proximate Composition, Sodium Alginate Content, Chlorophyll, Carotenoid.

Bu çalışmada, Cystoseira barbata (Stackhouse) C. Agardhın büyümesi ve biyokimyasal kompoziyonuna azot kaynaklarının (NaNO2, (NH4)2CO3 ve CH4N2O) etkisi araştırılmıştır. Denemeler süresince, en yüksek büyüme hızı ve biyomas verimi sırasıyla 1,26 /gün (kontrol) ve 64,90 g/m2 (0,05 g/l/gün NaNO2) olarak belirlenmiştir. Deneme gruplarının büyüme hızları ve biyomas verimleri arasında önemli derecede farklılıkların olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0,05). Çalışma sonunda, deneme gruplarının besin kompozisyonları incelenmiştir. En yüksek yağ, protein, kül ve karbohidrat içerikleri sırasıyla % 3,51±0,04 (0,05 g/l/gün (NH4)2CO3 ), % 22,70±0,23 (0,025 g/l/gün CH4N2O), % 36,33±0,33 (0,0625 g/l/gün CH4N2O), % 55,90±0,44 (0,05 g/l/gün NaNO2) olarak ölçülmüştür. Deneme grupları arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli derecede farklılıkların olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0,05). En yüksek klorofil a, b, c ve toplam karotenoid değerleri sırasıyla 1,78 mg/g (0,1 g/l/gün NaNO2), 0,07 mg/g (0,0375 g/l/gün CH4N2O), 0,41 mg/g (0,1 g/l/gün NaNO2), 0,62 mg/g (0,1 g/l/gün NaNO2) olarak ölçülmüştür. Ayrıca, grupların sodyum aljinat içerikleride çalışılmış olup en yüksek sodyum aljinat içeriği % 19,98±0,88 (0,125 g/l/gün NaNO2) olarak belirlenmiştir.
