Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to investigate asymmetric spur gears for helicopter transmission units in terms of static and dynamic performance by conducting theoretical and experimental works. This thesis is a part of Indigenous Helicopter Program of Rotary Wing Technology Center (DKTM) [1] which was launched at METU Technopark Facility within the scope of contract signed between Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) and Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TAI) on June 26, 2013. A user friendly software has been developed to generate macro geometry of asymmetric gears for checking geometrical restrictions and finite element analyses. Software allows analysis and design of asymmetric spur gears for root stress including micro profile design for minimum peak to peak transmission error (PPTE) and obtain smooth transmission error (TE) curves under design or any desired off-design load. Back to back test rig has been designed, manufactured and assembled in the scope of this thesis and asymmetric gear design project for helicopter power transmission units [1]. By using this test rig, experiments have been conducted to measure static and dynamic transmission error and construct TE curves for symmetrical and asymmetrical tooth spur gears. Dual asymmetry (asymmetry for tooth and root fillet profiles) have been investigated for further decrease in tooth root bending stress of spur gears.

Bu tezin amacı, teorik ve deneysel çalışmalar yürüterek helikopter güç aktarım ünitelerinde kullanılabilecek asimetrik düz dişlilerin statik ve dinamik performanslarının incelenmesidir. Bu tez, TAI (Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayi A.Ş) ile Savunma Sanayi Müsteşarlığı (SSM) arasında 26.06.2013 tarihinde imzalanan anlaşma ile ODTÜ Teknoparkta kurulmuş olan DKTM (Döner Kanat Teknoloji Merkezi) tarafından desteklenen Özgün Helikopter Programı [1] kapsamında yürütülmüştür. Asimetrik düz dişlilerin geometrik limitlerinin kontrolü ve sonlu eleman analizleri için makro geometri oluşumunu yapabilen kullanıcı dostu bir yazılım geliştirilmiştir. Yazılım ayrıca asimetrik dişlilerin diş dibi gerilmeleri açısından analiz ve tasarımına izin verdiği gibi dişli çifti için minimum iletim hatası elde edilmesi ve farklı yükler altında iletim hatası grafiklerinin türetilmesine de olanak sağlar.Bu tez ve helikopter dişli tasarımı projesi [1] kapsamında, sırt sırta bir dişli test düzeneği tasarım, imalat ve montajı yapılmıştır. Bu düzenek kullanılarak, simetrik ve asimetrik düz dişliler için statik ve dinamik iletim hatalarının ölçümleri yapılmıştır. Simetrik düz dişlilere kıyasla diş dibi gerilmesinde azalma sağlayan asimetrik profil uygulanmıştır. Buna ek olarak hem evolvent diş profiline hem de diş dibi radyusuna çift asimetri uygulanmış ve daha az gerilme değeri elde edilmiştir.
