The aim of this study is to examine the status of students studying in the Department of Child Development in five basic life skills areas classified by the World Health Organization. The sample of the study consists of 259 students studying in the Department of Child Development, Faculty of Health Sciences, in three foundation universities in Istanbul. Life skills scale, which consists of 30 items, developed by Bolat and Balaman (2017) was used as the data collection tool in the study. With the scores obtained from the scale; Differentiation levels were analyzed according to variables such as gender, type of high school, place of childhood, grade level of the student, and parental education. Shapiro-Wilk test was used to test compliance with normal distribution within the scope of statistical analysis. Spearman Correlation Analysis was used to test the relationship between life skills and its sub-dimensions. Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used to compare the level of life skills and sub-dimensions according to various variables. Statistical analyzes were made in IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 program, and the significance level was evaluated as p <0.05 for all values.As a result of the research, while the life skills subscale scores of the students studying in the Child Development Department were found at medium and high levels, no statistically significant difference was found according to the variables of gender and the type of high school they graduated from. It was observed that there was a statistically significant difference between the subscales according to the variables of the students' level of education and the education level of their parents and the place of residence.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Çocuk Gelişimi Bölümünde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin Dünya Sağlık Örgütü tarafından sınıflandırılan beş temel yaşam becerisi alanındaki durumlarını incelemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul ilinde bulunan üç vakıf üniversitesinin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Çocuk Gelişimi Bölümü birinci ve dördüncü sınıfta öğrenim gören 259 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Bolat ve Balaman (2017) tarafından geliştirilen 30 maddeden oluşan yaşam becerileri ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ölçekten elde edilen puanlarla; cinsiyet, mezun olduğu lise türü, çocukluğunun geçtiği yerleşim yeri, öğrencinin sınıf düzeyi, ebeveyn eğitim durumu gibi değişkenlere göre farklılaşma düzeyleri incelenmiştir. İstatistiksel analizler kapsamında normal dağılıma uygunluğun test edilmesi için Shapiro-Wilk testi kullanılmıştır. Yaşam becerileri düzeyi ile alt boyutları arasındaki ilişkinin testi için Spearman Korelasyon Analizi kullanılmıştır. Yaşam becerileri düzeyinin ve alt boyutlarının çeşitli değişkenlere göre karşılaştırmalarında Mann Whitney U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel analizler IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 programında yapılmış olup, anlamlılık düzeyi tüm değerler için p<0,05 olarak değerlendirilmiştir.Araştırma sonucunda Çocuk Gelişimi Bölümünde okuyan öğrencilerin yaşam becerileri alt ölçek puanları orta ve yüksek düzeyde bulunurken, cinsiyet ve mezun oldukları lise türü değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Öğrencilerin öğrenim gördükleri sınıf düzeyi, ebeveynlerinin öğrenim durumu ve yerleşim yeri değişkenlerine göre alt ölçeklerde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık olduğu görülmüştür.
