The present study was undertaken to determine the potential role of pomegranate peel methanolic extract (PPME) in modulating aluminum chloride (AlCl3) induced hepatorenal toxicity in female albino rats. The effect of PPME (200mg/kg b.wt.) on AlCl3 (34mg/kg b.wt.) induced hepatorenal toxicity, accumulation of aluminum (Al) in both liver and kidney, hepatorenal functions and oxidant/antioxidant status were determined. The changes in liver and kidney structures were investigated. In addition, anti-apoptotic effect of PPME was analyzed by immunohistochemistry technique. The present study showed an indication of carcinogenicity in the AlCl3-treated group represented by an increase in tumor necrosis factor-αand angiogenin; also, an inflammation induced an increase in prostaglandin E2andF2α.PPME protected both liver and kidney through reduction of the Al accumulation, stimulation of antioxidant activities and anti-apoptotic protein namely Bcl-2. Therefore, these results indicated that PPME has beneficial effects which may be related to its anti-apoptotic and antioxidant properties that could be able to inhibit Al-induced oxidative stress and improve the histopathological alterations in both liver and kidney of female rats. أجريت هذه الدراسة لقياس الدور المحتمل للمستخلص الميثانولي لقشر الرمان على تعديل أثر السمية المستحدثة بكلوريد الألومينيوم في كبد وكلى إناث الجرذان البيضاء. ولتحديد تأثير مستخلص قشر الرمان (200 ملجم/كجم من وزن الجسم) على السمية بكلوريد الألومينيوم (34 ملجم/كجم من وزن الجسم) في كبد وكلى إناث الجرذان البيضاء، تم قياس مستوى تراكم الألومينيوم في كل من الكبد والكلى، ووظائف الكبد والكلى، وكذلك تم تحديد مستوى الأكسدة/مضادات الأكسدة وتم فحص التغيرات النسيجية في الكبد والكلى، وبالإضافة إلى ذلك تم تحليل أثر مستخلص قشر الرمان المضاد للموت المبرمج للخلية بتقنية كيمياء الأنسجة المناعية. وقد أظهرت هذه الدراسة مؤشرا على التسبب في سرطان أنسجة المجموعة المعالجة بكلوريد الألومينيوم والممثل بزيادة عامل النخر الورمي-ألفا، والأنجيوجينين وكذلك الإلتهاب الذي يحدثه زيادة البروستاجلاندين F2αوE2. وكذلك أظهرت الدراسة أن مستخلص قشر الرمان يحمي كلا من الكبد والكلى وذلك بالحد من تراكم الألومينيوم، وتحفيز الأنشطة المضادة للأكسدة والبروتين المضاد للموت المبرمج للخلية والمسمى بـ Bcl-2. وقد أشارت النتائج إلى أن مستخلص قشر الرمان له آثار مفيدة قد تكون لها صلة بخصائصه كمضاد للأكسدة ومضاد لموت الخلايا المبرمج والقادرة على كبح الاجهاد التأكسدي المستحدث بالألومينيوم والمحسنة للتغيرات المرضية للأنسجة في كلا من كبد وكلى إناث الجرذان البيضاء.
