سعى العديد من علماء المسلمين إلى محاولة الإلمام بمختلف العلوم الدينية و الدنيوية على حد سواء ، مثل العلوم الهندسية و الطبية و الزراعية إلى علوم الرياضيات و الكيمياء وعلوم الفلك و الجغرافيا ...إلخ ، و التى كان لها أكبر الأثر فى وصول الحضارة الإسلامية إلى ما يقارب حد الكمال فى ظل ما كانت تعانيه الدول الأوروبية و الغربية وقتذاك من تدنى بالأحوال المعيشية و زيادة فى نسبة الفقر و الجهل و سوء الخدمات و الأحوال المعيشية . رأى العرب أنه لإرساء دعائم الإستقرار و النهضة بالدولة الإسلامية فلابد لهذا الكيان من قوة تستطيع أن تحميه و تحافظ عليه من براثن القوى المخربه دعاة الفكر الهدام . هذا و ضماناً لتحقيق ما سبق و أن أشرنا إليه سعى علماء العرب لإستغلال معارفهم و نبوغهم و خبراتهم بعلوم الكيمياء و العلوم الهندسية لإبتكار الجديد من الأساليب و المبتكرات التى تكفل لهم ذلك و التى يأتى من بينها البارود. هذا و فى ظل ما نعانيه من تجاهل بعض علماء و مؤرخى الغرب كون العرب المسلمون هم أصحاب السبق فى إستخدام البارود فى الأسلحة النارية و محاولة نسبته إلى أحد علماء الغرب من أمثال "ماركوس جريكوس" و "روجر بيكون" ، يهدف هذا البحث إلى التأصيل التاريخى لإستخدام البارود فى الأسلحة النارية إلى العرب المسلمين ، و الذى كان له أبلغ الأثر فى نشر الحضارة الإسلامية و إرساء دعائمها و إستقرارها ، و ما تضمنته من إسهامات معمارية و صناعية و ثقافية و فنية و التى لطالما كانت و لا تزال محل دراسة و إعجاب و مصدر إلهام لمختلف الحضارات الأوروبية و الغربية .

Many Islamic scientists sought after gaining as much as they could from both religious and mundane sciences. Engineering, architectural, medical, chemical, geographical and agricultural sciences are examples of sciences having a great impact on the Islamic civilization. At the time the Islamic civilization was brightly flashing as if it was a star in the sky, the western countries were suffering from a decline in the living conditions, ignorance, poverty, poor services and living conditions could be easily noticed. The Arabs thought about a way to strengthen the stability and protect the Islamic state from any destructive forces or ideologies. Seeking for the above the Islamic scientists sought of using their knowledge and experience especially in the chemical and engineering fields to innovate newly effective methods capable of preserving their countries and civilization. The way of using gunpowder in weapons could be stated as one of the most prominent inventions supporting that trend. The ignorance of some western historians that the gunpowder was firstly used by Arabs in weapons and firearms, and the attempt of attributing that to a western scientist as Marcos Gracos or Roger Bacon could be identified as the research problem. The research aims to root the originity of using gunpowder in weapons and firearms to the Arabs, which has led to the wide spread of a stable, long living Islamic civilization, having an architectural, industrial, cultural and artistic contributions, which has been always a subject of study, admiration and a source of inspiration for various western civilizations.
