The aim of this research is to examine the effects of mother education programme on the language development of hearing impaired children. In the research with experimental design of Pre-test-post-test-persistence test and control group, the research sample was constituted of ten mothers having three-four years old hearing impaired children, using random assignment method. The mothers in the experimental group were applied Education Programme for the Mothers of Hearing Impaired Children (İŞTAEP) two times a week for twelve weeks. In order to gather information about the children and families, `General Information Form`; to define the education requirements of the mothers, `Form For Defining Education Needs Of Mothers Who Have Hearing Impaired Children` and to define the development level of the children `Denver II Developmental Screening Test` were applied. In order to assess the language development of children Preschool Language Scale Fourth Edition - PLS-4 which was developed by Zimmerman (2002) and translated into Turkish by Yalçınkaya et al. (2007) was used. As a result of the study, it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference (p>.05) between the pre-test and post-test scores of experimental and control groups, but after the education programme it was determined that the mean scores of the children in the experimental group were higher than the control group. It was observed that this effect continued in the retention test applied three weeks after the completion of the programme and the difference between the pre-test and post-test average of the test group was significant (p <.01).

Bu araştırmada, işitme engelli çocukların annelerine uygulanan anne eğitim programının, işitme engelli çocukların dil gelişimlerine etkisini incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Öntest-sontest-kalıcılık testi kontrol gruplu deneysel desen kullanılan araştırmada, üç-dört yaşında işitme kayıplı çocuğu olan toplam on anne gruplara tesadüfen atanarak çalışma grubu oluşturulmuştur. Deney grubundaki annelere on iki hafta süresince haftada iki kez olmak üzere İşitme Engelli Çocuk Annelerine Eğitim Programı (İŞTAEP) uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada, çocuklar ve aileleri hakkındaki bilgileri toplamak amacıyla `Genel Bilgi Formu`, annelerin eğitim ihtiyaçlarını belirlemek için `İşitme Engelli Çocuğu Olan Annelerin Eğitim İhtiyaçlarını Belirleme Formu` ve çocukların gelişim düzeylerini belirlemek için `Denver II Gelişimsel Tarama Testi` kullanılmıştır. Çocukların dil gelişimlerini değerlendirmek amacıyla ise Zimmerman (2002) tarafından geliştirilen ve Yalçınkaya vd. (2007) tarafından Türkçe'ye uyarlanan `Okul Öncesi Dil Ölçeği-4 (Preschool Language Scale Fourth Edition - PLS-4)` kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda deney ve kontrol gruplarının öntest ve sontest puanları arasında istatistiksel açından anlamlı bir farklılık görülmediği (p>.05), ancak uygulanan eğitim programıyla birlikte deney grubunda yer alan çocukların dil gelişimlerine ilişkin puan ortalamalarının kontrol grubuna nazaran daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Programın tamamlanmasından üç hafta sonra uygulanan kalıcılık testinde de bu etkinin devam ettiği görülmüş, deney grubunun öntest ve sontest puan ortalamaları arasında farklılığın anlamlı olduğu (p<.01) belirlenmiştir.
