Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a language learning method which has a widespread usage in recent years especially in Europe. The main aim according to this method is learning content, meanwhile foreign language teaching is not an aim, but a tool. The instructor makes the students internalize the theme through materials, techniques and activities used during the teaching process by using a foreign language. While trying to understand the theme, the learners will have learnt the words, use and patterns of the target foreign language. According to an implementation started with Ministry of National Education in 2017, fifth graders at 779 schools have a preparatory class education with extended English language course hours. The purpose of this thesis is to present a supplementary syllabus in line with The Ministry of National Education to use in increased English course time. The learners will have a chance to compensate the other subjects which have lessened course time as well as English. In the meantime, this method may also be used for the selective English lessons at the other grades. First of all, all of the course annual syllabuses at fifth grade belong to The Ministry of National Education were examined for the study. After a detailed cross-curricular analysis, units from the different subject contents were decided. Approximately four units from all of the courses were taken and presented via a questionnaire to nearly two hundred fifth grade students. There are ten planned units in English course, so most preferred ten units were determined according to the results of the questionnaire. Meanwhile all of English ten units at the syllabus were analyzed in terms of the educational issues like the topic, functions, skills, activities, assignments, target words. After a detailed cross curricular examination, the data obtained by analyzing English subject and the other subjects were matched, harmonized and the suggested supplementary syllabus was developed. Two units from the developed supplementary material were prepared as examples and added to the thesis. The last stage of this study was the implementation part. The prepared units were presented to the students at sixth grade when they understand and acquire the learning goals of the whole subject contents at fifth grade, the education year they have answered the questionnaire. The implementation part were conducted with a sixth grade class consists of twenty – five students at the fall semester in the following education year after the questionnaire was implemented and the units were studied. After the practice part, an opinion survey was conducted with the participants. The results were presented after the analysis. In addition to that, the suggested supplementary syllabus and the two sample units were presented to two different English language teachers and their opinions were also taken, analyzed, added to the result part.

Dil ve İçerik Bütünleşik Öğrenme, son yıllarda kullanımı özellikle Avrupa'da yaygınlaşmış bir dil öğretim metodudur. Bu metoda göre asıl amaç bir konunun öğrenilmesidir, bu sırada yabancı dil öğretimi bir amaç değil araç olarak kullanılır. Öğretici konuyu anlatırken kullandığı materyaller, teknikler ve aktivitelerle öğrencilerin bilmedikleri bir dil ile konuyu özümsemelerini sağlar. Öğrenirler konuyu anlamaya çalışırken aynı zamanda hedef yabancı dilin kelimelerini, kalıplarını ve kullanımlarını da öğrenmiş olurlar. Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'nın 2017'de başlattığı bir uygulamaya göre 779 okulda beşinci sınıflar İngilizce dili ağırlıklı hazırlık sınıfı olarak öğrenim görüyorlar. Bu tezin amacı arttırılmış İngilizce ders saatlerinde kullanılabilecek Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı müfredatını destekleyici bir program sunmaktır. Öğrenirler İngilizcelerini pekiştirirken aynı zamanda ders saati azaltılmış diğer dersleri de pekiştirme şansı bulacaklardır. Bununla birlikte bu metot alt/üst sınıflarda Seçmeli İngilizce dersi için de kullanılabilir. Çalışma için öncelikli olarak beşinci sınıflarda okutulan tüm derslere ait Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı yıllık öğretim planları incelendi. Detaylı bir müfredatlar-arası analizden sonra farklı derslerden üniteler seçildi. Yaklaşık olarak her dersten dörder ünite seçildi ve bir anket ile yaklaşık iki yüz beşinci sınıf öğrencisine sunuldu. İngilizce dersinde planlanan on ünite bulunduğu için anket sonuçlarına göre en çok seçilen on konu belirlendi. Bunun yanı sıra İngilizce müfredatındaki on ünite, konu, kazanımları, aktiviteleri, ödevleri, hedef kelimeleri gibi eğitsel açılardan analiz edildi. Detaylı bir müfredatlar-arası incelemeden sonra İngilizce verileri ile diğer derslerden elde edilen veriler eşleştirildi, harmanlandı ve destekleyici müfredat hazırlandı. Hazırlanan destekleyici materyalden alınan iki adet ünite örnek olarak hazırlandı ve teze eklendi. Son aşama ise uygulama aşaması oldu. Hazırlanan üniteler anket uygulanan beşinci sınıflar altıncı sınıfa geçtiklerinde, İngilizce' nin ve diğer derslerin kazanımlarını bir önceki yıl anlamış ve özümsemiş bir haldeyken öğrencilere sunuldu. Takip eden eğitim – öğretim yılının güz döneminin başında yirmi beş kişiden oluşan bir altıncı sınıfına uygulama aşaması yapıldı ve bu üniteler işlendi. Uygulama sonrası katılımcıların fikirlerinin alındığı bir görüşme anketi uygulandı. Sonuçlar analiz edilerek sunuldu. Bununla birlikte hazırlanan destekleyici müfredat ve örnek üniteler iki farklı İngilizce dersi öğretmenine sunuldu ve onlarında görüşleri alındı, analiz edildi, sonuçlar bölümüne eklendi.
