The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of value-based drama education program on 6th grade students' acquisition of the democratic values. In this context, a drama program consisting of 16 lesson hours has been prepared by determining the gains for respect and equality values, primarily respecting differences. The working group was consisted of twenty-five students who study in 6th grade in secondary school in Ankara in academic year 2017-2018. Drama program prepared was administered as two lessons per week during eight weeks. The embedded design, a mixed research method, was used in the study. In the qualitative dimension of the study, the end-of-process evaluation form, the student interview form and the student diaries and the pre-test-post-tested Democratic Values Scale (DVS) were used in the quantitative dimension. Qualitative data were resolved through method of content analysis. According to the findings obtained from the end-of-process evaluation form, interviews and diaries, it is concluded that the applied program resulted in positive changes in students' thoughts and behaviors, that it is effective in gaining respect and equality values, respecting differences and it is found that the drama program applied to the students was effective and instructive. The data of Democratic Values Scale pre-test post-test were analyzed with SPSS package program. According to the findings of the study, there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores in terms of total score and sub-factors.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, değer eğitimi temelli drama programının 6. Sınıf öğrencilerinin demokratik değerleri kazanmalarına etkisinin belirlenmesidir. Bu çerçevede öncelikle farklılıklara saygı olmak üzere saygı ve eşitlik değerlerine yönelik kazanımlar belirlenerek 16 ders saatinden oluşan bir drama programı hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında Ankara'da bir ortaokulda öğrenim gören, 25 altıncı sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Hazırlanan drama programı haftada iki ders saati olmak üzere sekiz hafta boyunca uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada karma yöntem araştırması gömülü (içeyerleşik) desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel boyutunda süreç sonu değerlendirme formu, öğrenci görüşme formu ve öğrenci günlükleri, nicel boyutunda ön test-son test uygulamalı Demokratik Değerler Ölçeği (DDÖ) kullanılmıştır. Nitel veriler, içerik analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Süreç sonu değerlendirme formu, görüşme ve günlüklerden elde edilen bulgulara göre uygulanan programın öğrencilerin düşüncelerinde ve davranışlarında olumlu yönde değişikliğe yol açtığı, farklılıklara saygı, saygı ve eşitlik değerlerini kazandırdığı ve öğrencilerin uygulanan drama programını etkili ve öğretici bulduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Demokratik Değerler Ölçeğine verilen cevaplar SPSS paket programıyla analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre toplam puan ve alt faktörler açısından ön-test ve son-test puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür.
