Istanbul.This study is planned to determine the role of surgical nurses during the discharge period and act as a resource in issuing new arrangements regarding discharge planning; a phase in which nurses have critical roles.My sample group includes 116 nurses working in surgical unit of GATA Haydarpasa Training Hospital. A questionnaire developed by the researcher is utilized as the basic tool to collect data. Data which determined at the end of the research is evaluated through SPSS 15.0 program.The average age of the sample group is 28; %57.8 of whom have bachelor?s degree. With regard to the working experience; %44,8 has been in profession for less than five years; while %92,2 act as clinical nurses; %56,9 did not have any training on discharge planning; %81,9 conducted the discharge planning of the health clinic.The results of the study revealed that the entire nurses working in surgical units are not included in the discharge period. Such factors as the workload of nurses; the lack of a stabile employer to keep records of the work; lack of cooperation in the team and lack of sufficient staff; numerous patients and their short hospitalization period; lack of proper training material and physical conditions; differences in the level of their education; lack of interest on the side of patients? relatives are determined to have a critical role in the process.In line with the results of the research; it is recommended to conduct professional training programs concerning discharge process towards nurses and to repeat those trainings regularly; determine factors that have adverse impact on the discharge process and remove obstacles and cover deficiencies; conduct necessary institutional and legal arrangements for the proper implementation of the process.Keywords: Discharge Period, Discharge Training, Surgical Units, Nursing, The Roles of the Nurse.

İstanbul.Bu çalışma, cerrahi hemşirelerinin taburculuk sürecindeki rollerinin belirlenmesi ve hemşirenin anahtar kişi konumunda olduğu taburculuk planlamasına yeni düzenlemeler getirilmesinde kaynak oluşturması amacıyla planlandı.Araştırma örneklemini GATA Haydarpaşa Eğitim Hastanesinin cerrahi kliniklerinde çalışan 116 hemşire oluşturdu. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen anket formu kullanıldı. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen veriler SPSS 15.0 programı yardımıyla değerlendirildi.Çalışmada örneklem grubunun yaş ortalaması 28 olup, %57,8'inin lisans düzeyinde eğitime sahip olduğu, çalışma durumları incelendiğinde; %44,8'inin 5 yıldan daha az süredir hemşire olarak görev yaptığı, %92,2'sinin klinik hemşiresi olarak görev yaptığı, %56,9'unun taburculuk planlaması eğitimi almadığı, %81,9'unun kliniğinde taburculuk planlamasının yürütüldüğü belirlendi.Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre; cerrahi birimlerde çalışan hemşirelerin tamamının taburculuk sürecinde yer almadığı belirlendi. Hemşirelerin; iş yoğunluğu, işlerin kaydını tutacak sabit bir çalışanın olmaması, ekip işbirliğindeki ve personel sayısındaki yetersizlik, hasta sayısının fazlalığı ve hastaların kısa süre yatmaları, uygun eğitim materyallerinin ve fiziksel ortamın olmaması, eğitim düzeylerindeki farklılıklar, hasta ve yakınlarının ilgisizliği gibi nedenlerle süreç içerisinde etkin yer almadıkları belirlendi.Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda; taburculuk süreci ile ilgili hemşirelere yönelik hizmet içi eğitim programlarının düzenlenmesi ve periyodik aralıklarla tekrarlanması, taburculuk sürecine olumsuz yönde etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenerek engellerin ve eksikliklerin giderilmesi ve sürecin uygulanabilmesi için gerekli kurumsal ve yasal düzenlemelerin yapılması önerilmektedir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Taburculuk Süreci, Taburculuk Eğitimi, Cerrahi Birimler, Hemşirelik, Hemşirenin Rolleri.
