One of the most essential themes that guides businesses and determines their success is the motivation of employees. Researchers have shown that businesses that motivate their employees have a higher chance of success when compared to those that don't. In this study, the effect of motivation on the success of a business has been investigated by doing the motivation analysis of the employees in an industrial business operating in PVC sector. Theory of constraints puts forward the idea that there is a constraint in each system and that this constraints has to be removed for the success of the system. Considering this approach, in the first place it is aimed to determine the motivation constraint factor that restricts employees' motivation and adversely affects the success of the business and afterwards submit it submit it to the management for improvement.Definitions of theory of constraints, the basic concepts and literary information regarding the applications of this theory were given in the first chapter. In the second chapter, theoretical information related with motivation was presented and motivation theories and instruments were elaborately scrutinized. In the third chapter, basic concepts of success in business were explained and the factors that affect success were examined in literature context. In the fourth chapter, the affect of the motivation of employees on the success of a business was examined; the application of theory of constraints and the research method was given and finally-the findings of the research were evaluated.

İşletmelere yön veren, onların başarısını belirleyen en önemli konulardan birisi çalışanların motivasyonudur. Yapılan araştırmalar, çalışanlarını motive eden işletmelerin, başarı şansının diğer işletmelere göre daha yüksek olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada, PVC sektöründe faaliyet gösteren bir sanayi işletmesinde, Kısıtlar Teorisi'ne göre, çalışanların motivasyon analizi yapılarak, motivasyonun işletme başarısına etkisi araştırılmıştır. Kısıtlar Teorisi her sistemde bir kısıt olduğunu ve sistemin başarısı için bu kısıtın ortadan kaldırılması görüşünü savunur. Çalışmada, çalışanların motivasyonunu kısıtlayan ve işletmenin başarısını olumsuz yönde etkileyen motivasyon kısıt faktörünün belirlenmesi, daha sonra ise iyileştirilebilmesi için, yönetime sunulması amaçlanmaktadır.Bu çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, Kısıtlar Teorisi'nin tanımları, temel kavramları ve uygulamaları ile ilgili literatür bilgileri verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde, motivasyonla ilgili teorik bilgiler sunularak, motivasyon teorileri ve araçları ayrıntılı olarak incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde, bir işletmenin başarısı ile ilgili temel kavramlar açıklanarak başarıyı etkileyen faktörler, literatür bağlamında incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın dördüncü bölümünde ise, çalışanların motivasyonunun işletme başarısına etkisi incelenmiş, Kısıtlar Teorisi uygulaması ve gerçekleştirilen araştırma yöntemi açıklanarak, çalışma sonunda elde edilen araştırma bulguları değerlendirilmiştir.
