In this study, biodiesel produced from waste frying oils was blended with 20% (volumetric) diesel fuel and 5-10% (volumetric) butanol was added to this blend. Produced biodiesel and obtained different proportions of fuel blends were determined some of the important thermo-physical and chemical properties such as density, pour point, cloud point, cold filter plugging point, flash point, kinematic viscosity, acid value, elemental analysis and calorific values. The engine performance, combustion process and exhaust emissions characteristics of test fuels have been investigated by applying the high purity hydrogen gas (H2) from the engine intake manifold to these fuel blends at constant engine speed and different engine loads. In this three cylinder direct injection diesel engine, effective torque, power, specific fuel consumption, thermal efficiency parameters and combustion analyzes of test fuels were calculated. In addition to this, the effects of fuel blends on CO, CO2, HC, NOx and smoke opacity were evaluated. Besides, energy and exergy analysis of each test fuels have been carried out in the engine test system. According to the obtained results, it has been concluded that the biodiesel produced from waste frying oils blending with various proportion of butanol and hydrogen gas improved the thermo-physical properties of the fuel and combustion characteristics, increased the engine performance and reduced the exhaust emission values. In addition to these, the addition of TiO2 on fuel blends were compared with hydrogen in term of changes in the parameters.

Bu çalışmada, atık kızartma yağlarından üretilen biyodizel %20 (hacimsel) oranında dizel yakıtı ile karıştırılmış ve bu karışıma %5-10 (hacimsel) bütanol ilave edilmiştir. Üretilen biyodizel ve elde edilen farklı oranlardaki yakıt karışımlarının yoğunluğu, akma noktası, bulutlanma noktası, soğuk filtre tıkanma noktası, parlama noktası, kinematik viskozitesi, asit değeri, elementel analiz ve kalorifik değerleri gibi bazı önemli termo-fiziksel ve kimyasal özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Bu yakıt karışımlarına, yüksek saflıkta hidrojen gazı (H2) motorun emme manifoldundan verilerek sabit motor devrinde ve farklı motor yüklerinde test yakıtlarının motor performansı, yanma süreci ve egzoz emisyon karakteristikleri incelenmiştir. Bu üç silindirli direkt püskürtmeli dizel motorda, test yakıtlarının efektif tork, güç, özgül yakıt tüketimi, termal verim parametreleri ve yanma analizleri hesaplanmıştır. Bununla birlikte, yakıt karışımlarının CO, CO2, HC, NOx ve duman koyuluğu emisyonları üzerine etkileri değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca, motor test sisteminde her bir test yakıtının enerji ve ekserji analizi yapılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, atık kızartma yağlarından üretilen biyodizelin çeşitli oranlarda bütanol ve hidrojen gazı ile karışımlarının yakıtın termo-fiziksel özelliklerini ve yanma karakteristiği iyileştirdiği, motor performansını artırdığı ve egzoz emisyon değerlerini azalttığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Bunlara ek olarak, yakıt karışımlarına TiO2 ilave edilerek parametrelerdeki değişimler hidrojen ile kıyaslanmıştır.
