This study was conducted as an experimental study with control group and repetitive measurement in order to evaluate the effect of the Guided Imagery on the oncology nurses' anxiety, empathy and attitude toward terminal patient .The sample of this study consisted of nurses (totally 43 nurses) who gave care to adult oncology patients at the oncology institute of an university hospital (24 nurses) and a Ministry of Health Education and Research Hospital oncology division (19 nurses).Data was collected between 10.10.2016 and 16.02.2017 through nursing information form, `Thorson-Powell Death Anxiety Scale`, `Attitude and Approach Scale Towards Death and Terminal Patient`, `Interpersonal Reactivity Index`, and Post-Implementation Interview Form. `Percentage, standard deviation, arithmetic mean, Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon signed rank test` were used in the evaluation of research data.In the comparison of the experiment group within itself; it was found that nurses' pre-test 'level of death anxiety' was higher than post-test , the scores of `avoidance attitude from terminal patients` in post-test were lower than pre-test, and the level of empathy in post-test was higher than pre-test (p <0,05). In the comparison between the groups, the empathy level of the nurses in the experimental group was higher than the empathy level of the nurses in the control group (p <0,05) in the post test and follow-up test, but `no significant difference was found between pre-test, post-test and follow-up test points of the death anxiety and avoidance attitude from terminal patients` (p> 0.05) As a result, it has been found that, Guided Imagery is effective on oncology nurses `death anxiety, empathy and attitudes towards terminal patient`. It is proposed to use this technique to reduce the negative attitudes of nurses to the terminal patient, to increase their empathy levels and to decrease negative professional burden.Key Words: Guided Imagery, oncology nursing, death, empathy, anxiety.

Bu çalışma, Yönlendirilmiş İmgeleme Tekniği'nin onkoloji hemşirelerinin ölüm kaygısı, empati ve ölümcül hastaya karşı tutumu üzerine etkisini değerlendirmek amacıyla kontrol gruplu, tekrarlayan ölçümlü deneysel bir araştırma olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir.Araştırmanın örneklemini, üniversite hastanesi onkoloji enstitüsü (24 hemşire) ve eğitim ve araştırma hastanesi onkoloji bölümü'nde (19 hemşire) yetişkin onkoloji hastalarına bakım veren hemşireler (toplam 43 hemşire) oluşturmuştur. Veriler; hemşire bilgi formu, `Thorson-Powell Ölüm Kaygısı Ölçeği`, `Ölüm ve Ölümcül Hastaya Yaklaşım Tutum Ölçeği`, `Kişiler Arası Tepkisellik İndeksi` ve Uygulama Sonrası Görüşme Formu ile 10.10.2016-16.02.2017 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin değerlendirilmesinde `yüzdelik, standart sapma, aritmetik ortalama, Mann-Whitney U Testi ve Wilcoxon İşaret Sıra Testi` kullanılmıştır. Deney grubunun grup içi karşılaştırmasında; son test uygulamasında hemşirelerin ölüm kaygısı düzeyinin ön test uygulamasından daha fazla olduğu, son test uygulamasındaki ölümcül hastadan kaçınıcı tutum puanlarının ön test uygulamasından daha az olduğu, hemşirelerin son test uygulamasındaki empati düzeyinin ise ön test uygulamasından daha fazla olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0,05). Gruplararası karşılaştırmada ise, deney grubunda yer alan hemşirelerin son testte ve izlem testindeki empati düzeyi kontrol grubundaki hemşirelerin empati düzeyinden daha fazla (p<0,05) iken, ölüm kaygısı ve ölümcül hastadan kaçınıcı tutum ön test, son test ve izlem test puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark saptanmamıştır (p>0.05) .Sonuç olarak Yönlendirilmiş İmgeleme Tekniği'nin, onkoloji hemşirelerinin ölüm kaygısı, empati ve ölümcül hastaya karşı tutumu üzerinde etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Hemşirelerin ölümcül hastaya karşı olumsuz tutumlarını azaltmak, empati düzeylerini arttırmak ve olumsuz mesleki yük birikimlerini gidermek için bu tekniğin kullanılması önerilmektedir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Yönlendirilmiş İmgeleme Tekniği, onkoloji hemşiresi, ölüm,empati, kaygı.
