ABSTRACT The Effect of Oregano (Origanum onites) Essential Oil on Fattening Performance, Jejenal Villus Length, and Some Blood Parameters in Broiler Rations. Aim: In this study, the effects of oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil supplementation to feeds on performance, some blood parameters, jejenum villus lengths, and meat quality were investigated in broiler chickens. Material and Method: The trial arranged 4 main groups, as control and different levels (100, 200 and 400 ppm) of oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil added. Each experiment is divided into 5 sub-groups, each with 10 animals in its own. A total of 200 animals were used in the experiment. Water and feed are given as ad libitum. Lighting is set to 24h/day. Ambient temperature is kept at optimum values weekly. The additive of oregano (Origanum Onites) essential oil was applied daily. Results: Different levels of oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil additive to broiler feeds did not affect the values of live weight, live weight gain, feed consumption, feed utilization rate, carcass yield (P>0.05). Similarly, oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil had no significant effect on serum biochemical and antioxidant values (P>0.05). The addition of oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil significantly affected spleen weights, jejenum villus lengths, and meat color (a * value) parameters (P<0.05). Oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil did not affect meat pH values (P>0.05). Conclusion: The oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil generally had no significant effect on performance parameters. It has been concluded that oregano (Origanum onites) essential oil can be used as a feed additive to feeds to increase the fattening performance of broiler chickens, but further research is needed to determine the level of use. Amaç: Bu çalışmada karma yemlere kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağı ilavesinin etlik piliçlerde performans, bazı kan parametreleri, jejenum villus uzunlukları ve et kalitesi üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır.Materyal ve Metot: Deneme, kontrol grubu ve 3 farklı seviyede (100, 200 ve 400 ppm) kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağı ilavesi yapılan gruplar olmak üzere toplam 4 gruptan oluşturulmuştur. Denemede, her grup kendi içinde ve herbirinde 10 hayvan olacak şekilde 5 alt gruba ayrılmıştır. Denemede toplam 200 adet hayvan kullanılmıştır. Su ve yem ad libitum olarak verilmiştir. Aydınlatma 24 sa/gün olarak ayarlanmıştır. Ortam sıcaklığı haftalık olarak optimum değerlerde tutulmuştur. Kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağı katkısı günlük olarak uygulanmıştır.Bulgular: Etlik piliç rasyonlarına farklı düzeylerde kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağı katkısı; canlı ağırlık, canlı ağırlık artışı, yem tüketimi, yemden yararlanma oranı, karkas randımanı değerlerini etkilememiştir (P>0.05). Aynı şekilde serum biyokimyasal ve antioksidan değerler üzerine de kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağının önemli bir etkisi olmamıştır (P>0.05). Kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağı ilavesi dalak ağırlıkları, jejenum villus uzunlukları ve et rengi (a* değeri) parametrelerini önemli ölçüde etkilemiştir (P<0.05). Et pH değerleri üzerine kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağının herhangi bir etkisi olmamıştır (P>0.05).Sonuç: Kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağının genel olarak performans parametreleri üzerine önemli bir etkisi olmamıştır. Etlik piliçlerin besi performansını arttırmak için rasyonlara yem katkı maddesi olarak kekik (Origanum onites) uçucu yağının kullanılabileceği, ancak kullanım düzeyini belirlemek için konu ile ilgili daha fazla araştırma yapılması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Antioksidan, etlik piliç, kekik uçucu yağı, performans, pH, renk, serum parametreleri, villus.
