Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of training given on the basis of health belief model to women with obesity on their beliefs about obesity and obesity management.Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted using pre- and post-tests with a control group between March 2016 and December 2018. The study population consisted of women with obesity (BMI≥30, waist circumference ≥ 88cm) in the 18-65 age group living in the region of Palandöken Community Health Center (CHC). And, the sample of the study consisted of 128 women admitted to units of this CHC (Yıldızkent, Solakzade, Osmangazi Family Health Centers) for any reason, of which 64 were in the experimental group and 64 were in the control group, selected according to the sample selection criteria and power analysis. In the collection of data, `Introductory Characteristics Form`, `Health Belief Model in Obesity Scale` and `Anthropometric Measurement Form` were used. Group training structured according to the health belief model was provided to the women in the experimental group for 7 weeks. Follow-up was carried out for 6 months after the completion of the training. No intervention was applied to the women in the control group. In the evaluation of the data, Chi-square test, independent samples t-test, ANOVA for repeated measurements, Friedman test, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test were used.Results: Following the training provided to women with obesity according to health belief model, the sensitivity, severity, benefit perception sub-scale mean scores of the health belief model in obesity scale were found to increase compared to the pre-test, the obstacle perception sub-scale score was found to decrease, and the difference between the groups was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). In addition, women's weight, BMI and waist circumference values were found to decrease compared to pre-test, and the difference between the groups was found to be significant (p<0.05).Conclusion: It was determined that the training provided to the women with obesity in accordance with the health belief model affected the beliefs of women about obesity positively and provided obesity management by decreasing their anthropometric measurements (weight, BMI, waist circumference).Keywords: Health belief model, Training, Obesity, Obesity management, Women,.

Amaç: Bu araştırmada obez kadınlara SİM'ye göre verilen eğitimin kadınların obeziteye yönelik inançlarına ve obezite yönetimine etkisini incelemek amacı ile yapılmıştır.Materyal ve Metot: Araştırma ön test-son test kontrol gruplu ve yarı deneysel olarak, Mart 2016 - Aralık 2018 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Palandöken Toplum Sağlığı Merkezi (TSM) bölgesinde yaşayan, 18-65 yaş grubunda olan obez (BKİ ≥ 30, bel çevresi ≥ 88cm) kadınlar örneklemini ise bu TSM'ye bağlı birimlere (Yıldızkent, Solakzade, Osmangazi Aile Sağlığı Merkezi) herhangi bir nedenle başvuran, örneklem seçim kriterlerine uygun, güç analizi ile belirlenen, 64 deney, 64 kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplam 128 kadın oluşturmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında `Tanıtıcı Özellikler Formu`, `Obezitede Sağlık İnanç Modeli Ölçeği` ve `Antropometrik Ölçüm Formu` kullanılmıştır. Yedi hafta süresiyle deney grubundaki araştırmaya katılan kadınlara sağlık inanç modeline göre yapılandırılan eğitim grup eğitimleri şeklinde verilmiştir. Eğitimler bittikten sonra 6 ay süreyle izlem yapılmıştır. Kontrol grubundaki kadınlara herhangi bir girişim uygulanmamıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde Ki-kare testi, Bağımsız Gruplarda t testi, tekrarlı ölçümlerde ANOVA testi, Friedman testi, Mann Whitney U testi, Kruskal Wallis testi ve Wilcoxon Signed Ranks testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Obez kadınlara sağlık inanç modeline göre verilen eğitim sonrasında; obezitede sağlık inanç modeli ölçeğinin duyarlılık, ciddiyet ve yarar algısı alt boyut puan ortalamalarının ön teste göre arttığı, engel algısı alt boyut puan ortalamasının azaldığı ve gruplar arasındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak önemli olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Kadınların kilo, BKİ ve bel çevresi değerlerinin ön teste göre azaldığı ve gruplar arasındaki farkın önemli olduğu bulunmuştur (p<0.05).Sonuç: Obez kadınlara sağlık inanç modeline göre verilen eğitimin kadınların obeziteye yönelik inançlarını olumlu yönde etkilediği ve antropometrik ölçümlerinde düşüş (kilo, BKİ, bel çevresi) sağlayarak obezite yönetimini sağladığı belirlenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Eğitim, Obezite, Obezite yönetimi, Kadın, Sağlık inançmodeli.
