Although the number of historical buildings that make up our cultural and historical heritage is quite high, many of the historical buildings have been damaged due to the lack of awareness of ownership, preservation, and conveying to the next generations. There are two main historical building that determines the lifetime of factors outside of the human factor. These are ground problems and earthquakes. Historical buildings, which have survived for hundreds of years, do not pose a problem in terms of transporting vertical loads. However, tensile stresses during the transfer of horizontal loads caused by earthquakes often cause heavy damages in masonry structures. Masonry structures elements cannot withstand tensile stresses and damage (s) result from tensile cracks. The directions, shapes, angles, and sizes of these cracks along with the earthquake movements vary depending on the craftsmanship of the structure, the material used, as well as the cavities in the walls.Because of the active earthquake zone, it is necessary for our country to know how resistant the structures are to earthquakes and to determine how safe they are. Evaluation of these structures under the influence of earthquakes and taking precautions if it is need are necessary both in terms of human life and property safety and to transfer our cultural heritage to the next generations. Correctly modeling of historical buildings has great importance in the proper evaluation and solution of the results. In this study, the historical structure under the influence of static and dynamic loads was evaluated and the example of Öski Church in Çamlıyamaç Village of Uzundere District of Erzurum Province was examined.Macro modeling technique was selected and the behavior of Öşki Church under the influence of earthquake was examined. The masonry wall of the structure, which is out of plane behavior, was strengthened with steel scaffolding system and the wall behavior was examined.

Kültürel ve tarihi mirasımızı oluşturan tarihi yapıların sayısı oldukça fazla olmasına karşın sahip çıkma, koruma ve muhafaza etme, gelecek nesillere ulaştırılma bilincinin oluşması yakın zamanlarda başladığı için tarihi yapıların birçoğu zarar görmüş haldedir. Tarihi yapıların ömürlerini belirleyen insan faktörünün dışında iki ana etken bulunmaktadır. Bunlar; zemin problemleri ve depremlerdir. Yüzlerce senedir ayakta durmayı başaran tarihi yapılar düşey yükleri taşıma konusunda bir sorun teşkil etmemektedir. Ancak deprem nedeniyle ortaya çıkan yatay yüklerin aktarılması esnasında oluşan çekme gerilmeleri çoğunlukla yığma yapılarda ağır hasarlar oluşturmaktadır. Yığma yapı elemanları çekme gerilmelerini karşılayamaz ve çekme çatlakları oluşması sonucunda hasar(lar) meydana gelir. Deprem hareketleriyle beraber bu çatlakların yönleri, şekilleri, açıları ve büyüklükleri yapının işçiliğine, kullanılan malzemeye ve duvarlarda mevcut olan boşluk alanları ile de alakalı olarak farklılıklar göstermektedir.Türkiye'deki aktif deprem bölgesi olması nedeniyle ülkemiz yapılarının depremlere karşı ne kadar dayanıklı olduğunun bilinmesi ve ne kadar güvenli olduklarının belirlenmesi gerekmektedir. Bu yapıların, deprem etkisi altında yapıların değerlendirilmesi ve ihtiyaç duyulduğu takdirde önlemlerin alınması hem insan can ve mal güvenliği açısından hem de kültürel mirasımızın bir sonraki nesillere aktarılması için mecburidir. Tarihi yapıların modelinin doğru biçimde kurulması, sonuçların doğru şekilde değerlendirilmesinde ve çözümünde büyük öneme sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, statik ve dinamik yükler etkisindeki tarihi yapı değerlendirilmiş ve Erzurum İli Uzundere İlçesi'ne bağlı Çamlıyamaç Köyü'nde bulunan Öski Kilisesi örneği ele alınmıştır. Makro modelleme tekniği seçilerek Öşki Kilisesi'nin deprem etkisi altındaki davranışı irdelenmiştir. Yapının düzlem dışı davranışta bulunan yığma duvarı çelik iskele sistemi ile güçlendirilerek duvar davranışı incelenmiştir.
