The purpose of this study is to compare the performance properties of the sweatersmade from the open end recycled acrylic yarn with those of the similar sweaters made fromthe open end virgin acrylic yarn, together with the influence of incorporated elastic PBT andgimped yarns. For the study purpose, 12 different plain knitted fabric types were producedby using two recycled and virgin acrylic yarn types and two stitch length levels combiningwith no elastic yarn and with PBT and gimped yarns together. The effects of the elastic yarnaddition and type, the fibre type (being recycled acrylic or virgin acrylic) and the stitch lengthon the performance properties of the fabrics are also evaluated using ANOVA statisticalanalysis method. As performance properties of the fabrics, fabric structural parameters(stitch density values, mass and thickness), air permeability values, thermal comfortproperties (thermal conductivity, thermal resistance and thermal absorptivity), water vapourpermeability, bursting strength, pilling, abrasion resistance and extension values areconsidered.From both the experimental and statistical results, it is shown that the elastic yarnaddition and type, recycled and virgin acrylic fibre type and stitch length parameters affectall the performance properties of the fabrics significantly. The fabrics with the gimped yarnshow the highest stitch density, mass, thickness, thermal conductivity, thermal resistance,vthermal absorptivity, abrasion resistance and walewise extension results, followed by thefabrics with the PBT yarn. The highest bursting strength and the lowest pilling tendencyresults are obtained for the fabrics with the PBT yarn.When the experimental results are examined in terms of the effect of the recycledand virgin acrylic fibre types on the performance properties of the fabrics, the recycledacrylic fabrics exhibit higher thickness, thermal resistance, abrasion resistance, pillingtendency and coursewise extension results and lower bursting strength results than the virginacrylic fabrics. The recycled and virgin acrylic fabrics reveal different tendency for the otherperformance properties according to the elastic yarn addition and type.All the results reveal that as well as virgin acrylic fibre, recycled acrylic fibre can beused in the production of sweaters in acceptable quality and when recycled yarns are usedtogether with with gimped and PBT elastic yarns, the quality and performance properties ofsweaters can be increased and some advantageous properties can be gained to sweaters.

Bu çalışmanın amacı open end geri dönüşüm akrilik iplikten üretilen kazaklarınperformans özelliklerini orjinal akrilik iplikten üretilen benzer kazaklar ile elastik PBT vegipe ipliklerin etkisini de göz önüne alarak incelemektir. Bu amaçla, geri dönüşüm ve orijinalakrilik iplik tipleri ile uzun ve kısa olmak üzere iki farklı ilmek iplik uzunluk değerlerindeelastik ipliksiz ve elastik PBT ve gipe iplikler ilave ederek 12 farklı kumaş tipi üretilmiştir.Elastik iplik ilavesi ve tipinin, geri dönüşüm ve orijinal akrilik lif tipinin ve ilmek iplikuzunluğunun kumaşların performans özellikleri üzerindeki etkisi de ANOVA istatistikimetodu kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Kumaşların performans özellikleri olarak, kumaş yapısalparametreleri (ilmek sıklıkları, gramaj ve kalınlık), hava geçirgenlik değerleri, ısıl konforözellikleri (ısıl iletkenlik, ısıl direnç ve ısıl soğurganlık), su buharı geçirgenliği, patlamamukavemeti, aşınma dayanımı, boncuklanma ve esneklik değerleri ölçülmüştür.Deneysel ve istatistiki sonuçlardan elastik iplik ilavesi ve tipinin, geri dönüşüm veyaakrilik lif tipinin ve ilmek iplik uzunluğunun kumaşların tüm performans sonuçlarıüzerindeki etkileri istatistiki olarak önemli bulunmuştur.Gipe iplik ilaveli kumaşlar en yüksek ilmek yoğunluk, gramaj, kalınlık, ısıliletkenlik, ısıl direnç, ısıl soğurganlık, aşınma dayanımı, çubuk yönü uzama sonuçları, bunakarşın en düşük hava ve su buharı geçirgenlik sonuçları göstermiştir. Gipe iplik ilaveliiiikumaşları daha sonra PBT iplik ilaveli kumaşlar izlemiştir. En yüksek patlama mukavemetive en az boncuklanma eğilimi sonuçları PBT iplik ilaveli kumaşlar için elde edilmiştir.Deneysel sonuçlardan geri dönüşüm ve akrilik lif tiplerinin kumaşların performansözellikleri üzerindeki etkisi incelendiğinde ise, geri dönüşüm akrilik kumaşlar orijinal akrilikkumaşlardan daha yüksek kalınlık, ısıl direnç, aşınma dayanımı, boncuklanma eğilimi vesıra yönü uzama sonuçları, buna karşın daha düşük patlama mukavemeti sonuçlarıgöstermiştir. Diğer performans özelliklerinde ise geri dönüşüm ve akrilik kumaşlar elastikipliksiz ve elastik iplik ilaveli kumaşlarda farklı eğilimde davranış sergilemiştir.Tüm deneysel sonuçlar orijinal akrilik iplikler kadar geri dönüşüm akrilik ipliklerininde kabul edilebilir kalitedeki kazakların üretiminde kullanılabileceğini ve geri dönüşümipliklerin gipe ve PBT elastik iplikler ile birlikte kullanılması ile kazakların kalitesi veperformans özelliklerinin artırılabileceğini ve kazaklara bazı avantajlı özelliklerinkazandırılabileceğini göstermiştir.
