Societies that produce and use information are societies that reach new perspectives in education. In this context, one of the points reached in education is constructivist approach. To determine the state of information in the cognitive structure and to develop alternative measurement and evaluation tools have an important place in the new education system. In this regard, the 5th grade students perceptions about regions of Turkey through the word association tests is aimed to examine through. The study group consisted of 454 (215 female, 229 male) students attending six primary schools of Niğde Provincial Directorate of National Education.The word association test is used as a data collection tool. Turkey's seven geographical regions in the test (Central Anatolia Region, Marmara Region, Aegean Region, Mediterranean Region, Black Sea Region, Eastern Anatolia Region, Southeastern Anatolia Region) is used as the key concepts. Based on the test data applied to the study group, concept networks were drawn according to the frequency tables and the data were interpreted. It is determined that the most responding concept is used in the key of Central Anatolia Region in the networks created with the word association test data. There were no data in the key concepts of Eastern Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia in the response of 200 or more. An answer to all key concepts has not been reached. When the grade level of the working group is considered by the results of KIT overall assessment of the information in the introduction and development level for regions of Turkey in the cognitive structure has been found to be present. In conclusion, it can be said that the word association test is an effective technique for revealing the cognitive structure. In this respect, it is recommended to use it in different areas of evaluation from the KIT and to expand its use in the field of Social Studies.

Bilgiyi üreten ve kullanan toplumlar eğitimde yeni bakış açıları yakalayabilmiş toplumlardır. Bu bağlamda eğitimde varılan noktalardan biri yapılandırmacı yaklaşımdır. Bilginin bilişsel yapıdaki durumunu tespit etmek, bunun için alternatif ölçme değerlendirme araçları geliştirmek yeni eğitim sistemi içinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu açıdan, bu çalışma ile 5.sınıf öğrencilerinin Türkiye'nin bölgelerine yönelik bilişsel yapılarının kelime ilişkilendirme testi (KİT) yoluyla incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Niğde İli Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğüne bağlı altı ilkokulda öğrenim gören 5. sınıf 454 (215 kız, 229 erkek) öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak kelime ilişkilendirme testi (KİT) kullanılmıştır. Testte Türkiye'nin yedi coğrafi bölgesi (İç Anadolu Bölgesi, Marmara Bölgesi, Ege Bölgesi, Akdeniz Bölgesi, Karadeniz Bölgesi, Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi, Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi) anahtar kavram olarak kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubuna uygulanan test verilerine göre hazırlanan frekans tablolarına göre kavram ağları çizilerek veriler yorumlanmıştır. KİT verileri ile oluşturulan kavram ağlarında en çok cevap kavramın İç Anadolu Bölgesi anahtar kavramında kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. 200 ve üzeri cevap kavramlara ilişkin Doğu Anadolu ve Güneydoğu Anadolu anahtar kavramlarında hiçbir veri olmadığı görülmüştür. Tüm anahtar kavramları birleştiren bir cevap kavrama da ulaşılamamıştır. Çalışma grubunun sınıf düzeyi göz önünde bulundurularak KİT sonuçları genel olarak değerlendirildiğinde bilişsel yapılarında Türkiye'nin Bölgelerine yönelik giriş ve geliştirme düzeyinde bilgilerin mevcut olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, kelime ilişkilendirme testinin bilişsel yapının ortaya çıkarılmasında etkili bir teknik olduğu söylenebilir. Bu açıdan KİT ten farklı değerlendirme alanlarında da faydalanılması ve Sosyal Bilgiler alanında da kullanımının yaygınlaştırılması önerilmektedir.
