In this MSc thesis study, effects of the crushed pumice from Nevşehir region on the self-compacting concrete properties have been investigated. In mixtures, it was determined to be the density of the binder is 500 kg/m³ and the water/binder ratio is 0.4. Experiments were carried out at various pumice ratios which are % 10, 15, 20 and 25 addition to the control concrete manufactured by conventional Portland cement. The manufactured concretes were performed by various tests such as the warm water curing, boiling water curing and standard curing, then the compressive strength and the ultrasonic pulse velocity were measured. Addition of pumice induces a decrease in compressive strength in the case of warm water curing, whereas it was determined that compressive strength in the case of boiling water curing shows an increase with an addition of pumice. The compressive strengths in the three and seven day periods in the case of standard curing also decreased with the addition of pumice. In twenty eight day periods, the concrete strength of pumice concrete reaches the compressive strengths of the control concretes, and even becomes higher than this level. The abrasion strengths from twenty eight day periods in the case of standard curing increased with the addition of pumice and the values of the ultrasonic pulse velocity shows better agreement with compressive strengths.

Bu Yüksek Lisans Tez çalışmasında, Nevşehir bölgesinden temin edilen, öğütülmüş pomzanın kendiliğinden yerleşen beton özelliklerine olan etkileri araştırılmıştır. Karışımlarda bağlayıcı miktarı 500 kg/m³, su/bağlayıcı oranı ise 0,4 olarak belirlenmiştir. Normal portland çimentosu ile üretilen kontrol betonuna % 10, 15, 20 ve 25 oranlarında öğütülmüş pomza ilave edilmiştir. Üretilen betonlar sıcak kür, kaynar kür, standart kür şartlarında deneye tabi tutularak basınç dayanımları ve ultrasonik ses hız değerleri ölçülmüştür. Sıcak kür şartlarında pomza ilavesinin basınç dayanımlarında düşüşe neden olduğu, kaynar kür şartlarında ise basınç dayanımlarının pomza ilavesi ile artış gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Standart kür şartlarında ise 3 ve 7 günlük basınç dayanımlarının pomza ilavesi ile birlikte azaldığı, 28 günde ise pomza ilavesinin kontrol betonlarının basınç dayanımlarına yaklaştığı hatta bir miktar artış sergilediği tespit edilmiştir. Standart kür edilen 28 günlük numunelerde aşınma dayanımlarının pomza ilavesi ile arttığı ve üç farklı kür durumunda da ultrasonik ses hız değerlerinin basınç dayanımları ile uyum içinde olduğu görülmüştür.
