There is a intricate relationship between globalization and poverty, those are two important phenomenons of the period we live in. Besides the economic dimension of this relationship predominates there are also social, cultural, environmental, technologic and political dimensions as well. The aim of bringing to light this relationship makes the discussion necessary about whether globalization process increases poverty. For this aim, in this study there are opinions with pro and con perspectives together examined by doing a big literature research.Poverty, as is in all around the world, is seen as one of the main important economic problems in Turkey. So the answer to the question of where the globalization process is within the context of this problem, undoubtedly shows that poverty problem has globalized as well and gives us important clues about why policies made to struggle with poverty are unsuccessful.The period after 1980 that the globalization process has accelerated and its effects has been seen in everywhere, it is appropriate to observe poverty evolution. Within the context of this thought it is seen that, efforts for making outward oriented policies and integrating to the globalization process have caused to many revolutions. While with the globalization process there have been created some opportunities and experienced technologic improvements, there is a not good outlook in terms of some problems like unemployment, crises-sensitive economic structure, shocks and especially poverty. According to researchs and observations in this study, it can be claimed that, after 1890 poverty has increased and there has been important role of globalization on it in Turkey.

İçinde bulunduğumuz dönemin iki önemli olgusu olan küreselleşme ve yoksulluk arasında oldukça girift (karışık) bir ilişki bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca bu ilişkinin ekonomik yönü ağır bassa da toplumsal, kültürel, çevresel, teknolojik ve siyasi boyutları da bulunmaktadır. Bu ilişkinin aydınlatılmasının amacı ise, öncelikle küreselleşme sürecinin yoksulluğu artırıp artırmadığının tartışılmasını gerektirmektedir. Söz konusu amaç kapsamında bu çalışmada geniş bir literatür taraması yapılarak iddialar ve bunların karşı iddiaları ile yakın ilişkili konular birlikte ele alınmaktadır.Yoksulluk, tüm dünyada olduğu gibi Türkiye'de de en temel iktisadi sorunlardan biri olarak görülmektedir. O halde bu sorun kapsamında küreselleşme olgusu nerede durmaktadır sorusunun cevabı kuşkusuz öncelikle yoksulluk sorununun da küreselleştiği gerçeğini göstermekte ve bize yoksullukla mücadele politikalarının neden başarısız olduğu konusunda bazı önemli ipuçları vermektedir.Küreselleşmenin ivme kazandığı ve etkilerinin her yerde hissedilmeye başlandığı 1980 sonrasında, küreselleşme yoksulluk ilişkisinde yoksulluğun profilini izlemek yerinde olacaktır. Bu düşünce kapsamında Türkiye'de 1980'den sonra hızlanan, yapısal uyum programları aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilen dışa açılma ve küreselleşme süresine dahil olma çabaları pek çok köklü değişimin yaşanmasına neden olmuştur. Türkiye'de küreselleşme süreciyle birlikte pek çok olanak yaratılıp, teknolojik alanda yenilikler yaşanırken işsizlik, krizlere hassas ekonomik yapı, şoklar ve özellikle yoksulluk gibi sorunlar bakımından çok iyi bir tablo karşımızda durmamaktadır. Çalışmada yapılan inceleme ve gözlemlere dayanarak 1980 sonrasında Türkiye'de yoksulluğun arttığı ve bunda küreselleşmenin payı olduğu gözlenmektedir.
