In this study we aimed to explore the relation between Inattentional Blindness and anxiety and depression in older aged individuals. The study was conducted with 40 participants who were between 60-75 years of age and did not show signs of dementia. Invisible gorilla video was used in the inattentional blindness experiment. Participants also filled Geriatric Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Penn State Worry Questionnaire, White Bear Thought Suppression Inventory and a demographics questionnaire form. Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale and Short Blessed Test was conducted to eliminate the participants with signs of dementia.This study resulted in 100% inattentional blindness in our older aged sample. Individuals who saw the gorilla in full attention condition had more worry than individuals who did not see the gorilla in full attention condition which is in line with the studies about attention bias to threat in anxiety. Separately, we exploratorily included the data of eliminated participants who showed signs of dementia and compare the participants that showed and did not show signs of dementia. The magnitudes of thought suppression and anxiety were different for the participants who showed and did not show signs of dementia. This study is important since it is one of the few studies that explored inattentional blidness in older aged individuals and also the findings are interesting since none of the participants noticed the unexpected gorilla. Bu çalışmada orta yaş üstü bireylerde, Dikkatsizlik Körlüğü ile anksiyete ve depresyon ilişkisini araştırdık.Çalışma demans belirtileri göstermeyen, 60-75 yaş aralığında 40 kişi ile gerçekleştirildi. Dikkatsizlik Körlüğü deneyinde Görünmez Goril Videosu kullanıldı. Katılımcılar ayrıca Geriatrik Depresyon Ölçeği, Beck Kaygı Envanteri, Pen Eyalet Endişe Ölçeği, Beyaz Ayı Düşünceleri Bastırma Ölçeği ve Demografik Bilgi Formunu doldurdular. Demans belirtileri gösteren katılımcıları elemek için Montreal Bilişsel Değerlendirme Ölçeği ve Kısa Blessed Testi'ni uyguladık. Çalışma katılımcıların %100'ünün dikkatsizlik körlüğü göstermesi ile sonuçlandı. Tam dikkat koşulunda gorili gören kişiler görmeyen kişilere kıyasla daha fazla endişe skoruna sahiptiler. Bu da kaygıda tehdide karşı dikkat yanlılığı çalışmaları ile tutarlı bir sonuçtur. Ayrıca, keşif çalışması olarak, demans belirtileri gösterdiği için elenmiş katılımcıların verilerini dahil ettik ve demans belirtileri gösteren ve demans belirtileri göstermeyen katılımcıları kıyasladık. Gruplar arasında yalnızca düşünce bastırma ve anksiyete farklılık gösterdi.Bu çalışma ileri yaştaki bireylerde dikkatsizlik körlüğünü araştıran az sayıdaki çalışmalardan biri olması yönünden önemlidir. Ayrıca bulgular hiç bir katılımcının beklenmeyen goril uyaranını fark etmemiş olması açısından dikkat çekicidir. Bilgimiz dahilinde Türkiye'de ileri yaştaki bireyler ile dikkatsizlik körlüğü çalışmış başka bir çalışma henüz yoktur.Anahtar kelimeler: Dikkatsizlik körlüğü, yaşlanma, bilişsel performans.
