This study has been carried out in order to determine the content of the St. John's Wort(Hypericum perforatum L.) which is naturally permeated in the Çanakkale region. For thisstudy four St. John's Worth has been collected from four different location which wereBayramiç, Doğancı and Çavuşlu villages and Küçükkuyu, their morphologic qualities hasbeen studied as well as the plant's height, number of main branches and flowers, leaf,stem, green herbage and dry herbage weights per plant were noted down. It was found outthat approximate height of the plant is 73,25 cm, main branches 8,81 pieces, number offlowers 767,27 pieces, green herbage weight of flowers 20,68 g, green herbage weight ofleaf 22,82 g, green herbage weight of stem 44,84 g, dry herbage weight of flowers 6,90,dry herbage weight of leaf 9,42 g, dry of stem 22,98 g. Next, they were dried, grinded inthe 1 mm sieved grinder and content of their colourant content has been determined withthe RP-HPLC. The highest colourant content which are ellagic acid, myricetin, quercetin hydrate and chrisin derivative were found in Doğancı and Çavuşlu villages, then centre of Eceabat and the lowest colourant content were found in the samples that has been collected in Çetmibaşı village.

Bu çalışma Çanakkale'de doğal olarak yayılış gösteren sarı kantaron (Hypericum perforatum L.) bitkisinin farklı lokasyonlarda boyarmadde içeriklerinin belirlenmesi için yürütülmüştür. Çalışma için Bayramiç ilçesi Doğancı köyü ve Çavuşlu köyü, Küçükkuyubeldesi Çetmibaşı köyü ve Eceabat Merkez olmak üzere 4 farklı lokasyondan, tamçiçeklenme döneminde kantaron bitkileri toplanmış, morfolojik özellikleri incelenmiş,bitki boyu, çiçekve anadal sayısı, yaprak, sap ve çiçeğin yaş ve kuru ağırlıkları alınmıştır. Ortalama; bitki boyu 73,25 cm, anadal sayısı 8,81 adet, çiçek sayısı 767, 27 adet, çiçek yaş ağırlığı 20,68 g, yaprak yaş ağırlığı 22,82 g, sap yaş ağırlığı 44,84 g, çiçek kuru ağırlığı 6,90 g, yaprak kuru ağırlığı 9,42 g, sap kuru ağırlığı 22,98 g eğerleri bulunmuştur. Örnekler kurutularak, 1 mm elekli öğütücüde öğütülüp ters fazlı yüksek performanslı sıvı kromatografisi (RP-HPLC) ile boyar madde içerikleri tespit edilmiştir. En yüksek boyar madde içeriğine elajik asit (ellajik acid), mayrisetin (myricetin), kuersetin hidrat (quercetin hydrate) ve krisin türevi (chricin derivative) olarak Doğancı ve Çavuşlu köylerinde, daha sonra Eceabat Merkez ve en düşük boyar madde içeriği Çetmibaşı köyünden toplanan örneklerden elde edilmiştir.
