Production, processing, launching into domestic and foreign market of citrus provide significant contribution to employment. Citrus fruits can be consumed fresh, and also processed in order to meet the market needs. This study aims to detect the problems regarding current status citrus production and marketing of it in county Dörtyol in province Hatay, and to reveal solution offers to them. In the study, socio-economic factors, problems and solution offers that have effect on production and marketing of citrus are specified. The main material of the study is the data obtained from surveys conducted on 91 producers of citrus in county Dörtyol in province Hatay. According to the research results, existence of citrus lands in facilities was found to be 47.31 da in average. Number of tree per decare in orange production was determined to be 20.94 pcs/da and mean yield of tree, to be 160.00 kg/pcs. Gross profit per tree in orange production was found to be 52.13 TRY/pcs. Number of tree per decare in lemon production was determined to be 21.17 pcs/da and mean yield of tree, to be 100.00 kg/pcs. Gross profit per tree in lemon production was found to be 70.38 TRY/pcs. Number of tree per decare in mandarin production was determined to be 21.33 pcs/da and mean yield of tree, to be 120.00 kg/pcs. Gross profit per tree in mandarin production was found to be 41.84 TRY/pcs. The greatest share in variable costs in citrus production is the costs of harvest. Harvest cost was found to be 33.88% for mandarin, 31.04 for orange, and 32.73% for lemon. 69% of consumers was found to prefer storing 69% of their products. The most significant factor of risk in production was found to be production technology by 10.67%, and the one in product marketing, to be uncertainty of price by 17.31%. As a result, it is needed to process the production exceeding the need, conduct studies to increase consumption in domestic market and find new markets abroad.

Turunçgil üretimi, işlenmesi, iç ve dış piyasada pazarlanması ile istihdama önemli katkı sağlamaktadır. Turunçgiller taze olarak tüketilebileceği gibi aynı zamanda pazar ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak üzere işlenebilir. Bu çalışmada Hatay ili Dörtyol ilçesinde turunçgil üretiminin mevcut durumu ve pazarlanma yapısı ile sorunlarının belirlenmesi ve çözüm önerilerinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma ile turunçgil üretiminde ve pazarlamada etkili olan sosyo-ekonomik faktörler, sorunlar ve çözüm önerileri belirlenmiştir. Çalışmanın ana materyalini Hatay ili Dörtyol ilçesinde turunçgil üretimi yapan 91 üretici ile yapılan anketlerden elde edilen veriler oluşturmuştur. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre işletmelerde turunçgil arazi varlığı ortalama 47,31 da olarak belirlenmiştir. Portakal üretiminde dekara düşen ağaç sayısı 20,94 adet/da ve ortalama ağaç verimi 160,00 kg/adet olarak saptanmıştır. Portakal üretiminde ağaç başına brüt kâr 52,13 TL/adet olarak saptanmıştır. Limon üretiminde dekara düşen ağaç sayısı 21,17 adet/da ve ortalama ağaç verimi 100,00 kg/adet olarak saptanmıştır. Limon üretiminde ağaç başına brüt kâr 70,38 TL/adet olarak saptanmıştır. Mandarin üretiminde dekara düşen ağaç sayısı 21,33 adet/da ve ortalama ağaç verimi 120,00 kg/adet olarak saptanmıştır. Mandarin üretiminde ağaç başına brüt kâr 41,84 TL/adet olarak saptanmıştır. Turunçgil üretiminde değişken masraflarda en büyük payı hasat masrafları oluşturmaktadır. Hasat masrafları mandarinde % 33,88, portakalda % 31,04, limonda % 32,73 olarak belirlenmiştir. Üreticilerin % 69'unun ürünlerini depolamayı tercih ettikleri belirlenmiştir. En önemli üretim risk faktörünün % 10,67 ile üretim teknolojisi olduğu, ürün pazarlamada ise en önemli risk faktörünün % 17,31 ile fiyat belirsizliği olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak talebi aşan üretimin işlenmesi, iç piyasadaki tüketimi arttıracak çalışmalar yapılması ve yurt dışında da yeni pazarların bulunmasına ihtiyaç vardır.
