Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the leptin levels of the athletes in football and wrestling in terms of respiration and aerobic capacity parameters. Material and Method: A total of 130 volunteers ( 60 females and 70 males) engaged in sports actively and aged between 18 and 25 years participated in the study Body compositions, respiratory and aerobic capacities together with leptin, HDL, LDL, Total Cholesterol and trigliserit of the participants were examined within the scope of the study. In order to determine the differences in evaluating the data between the branches, one-way analysis of variance test was used and the differences between the environments were demonstrated with Tukey?s multiple comparisons test. Besides, the relations between the parameters examined in the study were determined with Pearson correlation coefficient.Findings: In the study, there is a statistically significantly difference between leptin levels of female and male sedanters and footballers (P<0.05). There are not any significantly differences between footballers and wrestlers and wrestlers and sedanters (P>0.05). Furthermore, it was determined that serum leptin levels of female athletes were higher than those of male athletes. A negative relation was found between the serum leptin levels measured from footballers, wrestlers and sedanters and respiratory parameters. It was determined that in all three groups as MaxVO2 increased, serum leptin level decreased. Accordingly, serum leptin levels of male footballers and wrestler having high aerobic levels were found to be lower. Nevertheless, when the relation between the same parameters was examined separately according to the sex, it was not found statistically significant (P>0.05)Result:. In this study, while aerobic endurance of male and female footballers and wrestlers was found high, serum leptin levels of the footballers with high MaxVO2 value found significantly lower than the footballers whose aerobic endurance was low. It was detrmined that decrease in serum leptin level was associated with the rise of MaxVO2. Serum leptin levels change in direct proportion to body mass index and fat.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı futbol ve güreş dallarındaki sporcuların leptin düzeylerinin solunum ve aerobik kapasite parametreleri ile ilgisinin incelenmesidir. Materyal ve Metot: Çalışmaya aktif olarak spor yapan ve yaşları 18?25 arasında değişen toplam 130 (60 kadın, 70 erkek) gönüllü katılmıştır. Çalışmada, katılımcıların vücut kompozisyonu, solunum ve aerobik kapasiteleri ile leptin, HDL, LDL, Total Kolesterol ve Trigliserit değerlerine bakılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde branşlar arası farklılıkları belirlemek için tek yönlü varyans analizi, ortalamalar arası farklılıkları ise Tukey çoklu karşılaştırma testi ile yapılmıştır. Ayrıca, çalışmada incelenen parametreler arasındaki ilişkiler Pearson korelasyon katsayısı ile belirlenmiştir.Bulgular: Çalışmada erkek ve bayanlarda futbolcular ile sedanterlerin leptin seviyeleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark vardır (P<0,05). Futbolcu ve güreşçiler arasında, güreşçilerle sedanterler arasında anlamlı farklılık yoktur (P>0,05). Ayrıca kadın sporcuların serum leptin düzeyleri, erkek sporculara göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Futbolcu, güreşçi ve sedanterlerden ölçülen serum leptin düzeyleri ile solunum parametreleri arasında negatif ilişki bulunmuştur. Üç grupta da MaxVO2 arttıkça serum leptin düzeyinin düştüğü tespit edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla aerobik seviyesi yüksek olan erkek futbolcu ve güreşçilerin serum leptin düzeyleri düşük bulunmuştur. Ancak aynı parametreler arası ilişki cinsiyete göre ayrı ayrı incelendiğinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bulunmamıştır (P>0,05). Sonuç: Bu çalışmada erkek ve kadın futbolcu ve güreşçilerin aerobik dayanıklılığı sedanter gruplara göre yüksek bulunurken, MaxVO2 değeri yüksek olan futbolcuların serum leptin düzeyleri, aerobik dayanıklılığı düşük olanlara futbolculara göre anlamlı şekilde düşük bulunmuştur. MaxVO2?nin yüksekliği ile serum leptin düzeyinin azalması ilişkili görülmüştür. Serum leptin değerleri, vücut kitle indeksi ve yağ oranı ile doğru orantılı değişmektedir.
