The more information and skills they use in real life, the more permanent they become. The important thing is not to memorize knowledge and skills but to use them. Social Studies is a course in which students are challenged and also complained about a lot of abstract topics. The best way to make students love this course is to provide a learning environment learned by entertaining them. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the study on children. to determine whether the modeling process is effective in acquiring time and chronology skills for grade students. A mixed approach qualitative and quantitative approach was used in research that creates, and the size of the study, qualitative semi-structured interview and observation process when creating the process constitutes the quantitative dimension achievement test. In this study, half experimental method was used and pilot application was carried out at a school in Trabzon (n-26). The main application is in a secondary school in the city center of Trabzon 31 test group, 31 control group in total 62, 7. it was carried out with a class student. Data collection tools, success test, classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with the student were used. Quantitative data obtained from the study were analyzed using SPSS program. The data obtained from semi-structured interviews and observation forms were analyzed with content and descriptive. When we look at the findings, it was observed that the students of the experimental group exhibited significant differences in terms of success compared to the control group students. Modeling is the process that enables them to visualize their minds. Observation data shows that there is a rich learning environment in this process. In this context, it is recommended that the students learn better and be more involved in modeling activities in order not to be bored during the Social Studies course.

Kazanılan bilgi ve beceriler gerçek yaşamda ne kadar kullanırsa o kadar kalıcı hale gelirler. Önemli olan bilgi ve becerileri ezberlemek değil onları kullanabilmektir. Sosyal bilgiler, öğrencilerin zorlandığı ve aynı zamanda oldukça fazla soyut konular içermesinden şikayet edildiği bir derstir. Bu dersi öğrencilere sevdirmenin en iyi yolu ise onları eğlendirerek öğrenilen bir öğrenme ortamı sağlamaktır. Bu çalışmanın amacı ortaokul 7. sınıf öğrencilerine, zaman ve kronoloji becerisinin kazandırılmasında modelleme sürecinin etkili olup olmadığını ortaya koymaktır. Araştırmada nitel ve nicel yaklaşımın oluşturduğu karma yaklaşım kullanılmıştır, araştırmanın nitel boyutunu yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat ve gözlem süreci oluştururken, nicel boyutunu ise başarı testi süreci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada yarı deneysel yöntem kullanılmış olup çalışmanın pilot uygulaması Trabzon merkezinde bir okulda yürütülmüştür (N-26). Asıl uygulama ise Trabzon il merkezinde bulunan bir ortaokulda 31 deney grubu 31 kontrol grubu olmak üzere toplamda 62, 7. sınıf öğrencisi ile yürütülmüştür. Veri toplama araçları, başarı testi, sınıf içi gözlemler ve öğrenci ile yürütülen yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen nicel veriler; SPSS programından yararlanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlardan ve gözlem formlarından elde edilen veriler içerik ve betimsel ile çözümlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara bakıldığında, deney grubu öğrencilerinin kontrol grubu öğrencilerine göre daha başarı yönünden anlamlı farklılıklar ortaya çıktığı görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin düşüncelerinden modelleme süreci tanımına bakıldığında ise, modelleme onlar için zihindekilerin canlandırılmasına imkan veren süreçtir. Gözlem verilerinden ise, bu süreçte zengin bir öğrenme ortamının olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çerçevede ise sosyal bilgiler dersi süresinde öğrencilerin daha iyi öğrenmesi ve sıkılmaması için modelleme etkinliklere daha fazla yer verilmesi gerektiği önerilebilir.
