Hydatid cyst is a common helmintic zoonotic disease in throughout the world as well as in our country. While hydatid cyst threatens the public health, it also effects the national economy adversely via decreasing the meat, milk, wool and stock production in slaughter animals as well as destrucing the cystic organs such as liver and lung and causing the risk of getting other diseases by such animalsIn this study the prevalence of Cystic Echinococcosis were investigated in cattle, sheep and goats by slaughter observation and seroprevalence of Cystic Echinococcosis in human by ELISA in Muş province. Also, the prevalence of Echinococcus granulosus in dogs were investigated by Nested-PCR method in the same province. Ninetyfive out of 489 (19.4. %) cattle, 154 out of 1209 (12.7 %) sheep and 102 out of 621 (16.4 %) goats were found to be infected hydatid cyst. Thirty out of 728 (4.4 %) human sera found to be positive for hydatid cyst sero-positivity. E. granulosus frequency in dogs found to be 9 % determined by Nested-PCR method whereas 28 % dogs were positive for Taenia spp. eggs determined by direct and zinc floating methods. Hydatid cyst frequency increased with age in cattle and human whereas there were no such findings in sheep and goats. E. granulosus frequency was increas with age as well.In conclusion E. granulosus infection in dog was frequency as well as hydatid cyst frequency was also high in human, cattle, sheep and goats in Muş region. It is crucial to in farm people about the hydatid cyst disease, to call attention of local authorities on this disease and to establish an immediate prevention and programme in Muş region.

Kist hidatik tüm dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de yaygın helminto-zoonoz bir hastalıktır. Kist hidatik bir yandan toplum sağlığını ciddi olarak tehdit ederken, diğer yandan da koyun, keçi, sığır gibi kasaplık hayvanlarda et, süt, yapağı ve döl veriminin azalmasına, başta karaciğer ve akciğer olmak üzere kistli organların imhasına ve vücut direncinin kırılarak diğer hastalıklara yakalanma riskinin artmasına neden olarak ülke ekonomisini olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir.Çalışmamızda Muş ve yöresinde insanlarda ELISA yöntemiyle, besi hayvanlarından sığır, koyun ve keçilerde kesim takipleriyle kist hidatik yaygınlığı araştırıldı. Köpeklerde ise Nested-PCR yöntemiyle E. granulosus görülme sıklığı saptandı. İncelenen 489 sığırın 95'inde (% 19.4), 1209 koyunun 154'ünde (%12.7), 621 keçinin 102'sinde (% 16.4)) kist hidatik saptandı. Toplanan 728 insan serumunun 30'unda (% 4.1) kist hidatik sero-pozitifliği bulundu. Köpeklerdeki E. granulosus sıklığını belirlemek için toplanan 100 köpek dışkısının Nested-PCR yöntemiyle incelemesiyle 9`unda (% 9) E. granulosus bulunurken dışkıların direkt ve çinko sülfat yüzdürme yöntemiyle incelenmesiyle 28'inde (% 28) Taenia spp. yumurtaları tespit edildi. Kist hidatiğin görülme sıklığının sığırlarda, insanlarda yaşla orantılı olarak arttığı gözlemlenirken koyun ve keçilerde böyle bir bulguya rastlanmadı. E. granulosus görülme oranının ise köpeklerde yaşla orantılı olarak arttığı belirlendi.Sonuç olarak Muş ve yöresinde köpeklerde E. granulosus yaygındır. Aynı zamanda insanlarda, sığırlarda, koyun ve keçilerde kist hidatik görülme oranı da yüksektir. Ülkemizde olduğu gibi Muş ve yöresinde halkın kist hidatik hastalığı hakkında bilgilendirilmesi, yetkililerin konuya dikkatinin çekilmesi ve koruma ve kontrol programının acilen oluşturulması gerekmektedir.
