Analysıs of The Effects of Green Tea Extracts Agaınst The Formation of Biofilm on TheMaterials of Space MaıntaınersThe formation of dental caries depends on several factors and the most important microorganism, particularly, S. mutans. An increase in the incidence of S.mutansin children using space maintainer has been detected. Chlorhexidine digluconate with mechanical cleaning is the most commonly used chemical agent to remove biofilm. Although providing an effective treatment for a long time, it has side effects. For centuries, the useage of plant extracts as a routine in daily life and traditional treatments is known. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of green tea to formation of biofilms forming on space maintainer in children.The study grup were selected from Pediatric Dentistry Clinic,Faculty of Dentistry, Suleyman Demirel University in children with space maintainer. Biofilm samples were taken from space maintainer and determined the biofilm.The effects of green tea and dried tea leaves to oral biofilm of bacteria isolated from the extracts were evaluated by spectrophotometer. The effect of tea extracts against biofilm on space maintainer material was monitorized in two ways. One of them was counting live bacteria method and other was micro-titre plaque method.The greatest concentration of selected isolates of biofilm formation was observed on glucose and sucrose. Compared to other selected isoletes,S. mutans to created the most dense biofilm. The most effective extract against biofilm forming materials on the space maintainers was determined that methanol extract of green tea.In the prevention of tooth decay, it is emphasized that green tea is the most cheap, reliable and easily accessible product. It's potential to be used with success in children can be found. However, many more studies on this subject are needed.

Diş çürüğünün oluşumu birçok etkene bağlıdır. En önemli sebep mikroorganizmalar, özellikle de S. mutans'dır. Yapılan çalışmalarda, yer tutucu kullanan çocuk hastalarda S. mutans sayısında artış olduğu saptanmıştır. Biyofilmin ortadan kaldırılması için mekanik temizlik ile birlikte klorheksidin diglukonat, en sık olarak kullanılan kimyasal ajandır. Uzun süre etkin bir tedavi sağlamış olmasına karşın, yan etkileri bulunmaktadır. Doğal bitkisel ürünler, günlük hayatta ve geleneksel tedavilerde rutin olarak kullanılmaktadır.Bu çalışmanın amacı, çay ekstraktlarının yer tutucu oluşturan apareyler üzerinde biyofilm oluşumuna etkisinin in vitro olarak incelenmesidir. Çalışmaya dahil edilen grup, Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Pedodonti Bölümü'nde yer tutucu tedavisine devam eden çocuklardan seçilmiştir. Yer tutucular üzerinden biyofilm örnekleri alınıp bakteri tanımlamaları yapılmıştır. İzole edilen bakterilere çay ekstraktlarının etkisi spektrofotometre kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Yer tutucu oluşturan materyaller üzerinden ağız içinde izole edilen bakterilerin oluşturduğu biyofilme çay ekstraktlarının etkisi, canlı bakteri sayısı ve mikrotitrasyon plaka yöntemi olmak üzere 2 yolla izlenmiştir.Ağızdan izole edilen bakterilerin en yoğun olarak biyofilm oluşumları sükroz ve glikoz olan ortamda görülmüştür. Bakteriler arasından en yoğun biyofilm oluşumu ise S. mutans'dagözlenmiştir. Yer tutucu oluşturan materyaller üzerinde biyofilm oluşumuna karşı en etkili ekstraktın, yeşil çay metanol ekstraktı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yeşil çayın, diş çürüğünün önlenmesinde en ucuz, güvenilir ve kolay ulaşılabilir destek ürünlerden biri olduğu üzerinde durulmaktadır. Çocuklarda başarı ile kullanılma potansiyeli bulunabilir. Ancak bu konu ile ilgili daha birçok çalışmaya gereksinim bulunmaktadır.
