The current study represents the investigation of 5 Iraqi plants usually utilized. The methanolic and ethanolic extracts of these plants were tested for the antimicrobial activity (against three Gram-positive bacteria, three Gram-negative bacteria and three yeasts species), their antioxidant activity. Then, a phytochemical screening was realized for the extracts. Our results showed that the highest antimicrobial activity was exhibited by the methanolic extracts of Allium porrum , Allium cepa., Hourse radish ., Citrus aurantifolia& Mentha longifolia, Also, the methanolic extracts of these plants showed high free radical scavenging activity.. The phytochemical screening demonstrated the presence of different types of compounds like,tannins, flavonoids and others, which could be responsible for the obtained activities..

ركزت الدراسة الحالية على خمسة نباتات تستخدم بشكل اعتيادي واختبرت الفعالية المضادة للأحياء المجهرية لكل من المستخلصات الكحولية الميثانول والايثانول تجاه ثلاث بكتريا موجبة لصبغة وسالبة لصبغة كرام وثلاث أنواع من الخمائر ودرست الفعالية المضادة للأكسدة وشخصت المكونات الفعالة في المستخلصات. أظهرت النتائج آن اعلي فعالية مضادة للأحياء المجهرية كانت للمستخلص الميثيليAllium porrum ويليه Allium cepa., Hourse radish ., Citrus aurantifolia و Mentha longifolia كما أظهرت المستخلصات بالكحول الميثيلي أعلى فعالية لإزالة الجذور الحرة، وأوضحت نتائج المسح للمكونات الفعالة بوجود مكونات التانينات والفلافونات ومكونات أخرى مسئولة عن هذه الفعاليات.
