هدف البحث إلى الكشف عن فاعلية استخدام نموذج وودز في تدريس العلوم على تنمية عادات العقل والتفكير الاستدلالي لدى تلاميذ الصف الثالث المتوسط، ولتحقيق هذا الهدف استخدم الباحث المنهج شبه التجريبي القائم على التصميم (القبلي ـــ البعدي) للمجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة، وتمثـلت أداتا الدراسة في اختبار للتفكير الاستدلالي، ومقياس لعادات العقل؛ بعد التأكّد من صدقهما وثباتهما، وطُبّقت أداتا البحث قبليًا وبعديًا على عينة عشوائية قوامها (58) طالبًا، (28) منهم يمثّلون المجموعة التجريبية، و(30) يمثّلون المجموعة الضابطة، وبعد جمع البيانات وتحليلها إحصائيًا، توصّل البحث للنتائج الآتية: *توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسطي درجات المجموعتين الضابطة والتجريبية في التطبيق البعدي لاختبار التفكير الاستدلالي عند مهارة الاستنباط، والاختبار جميعًا، لصالح المجموعة التجريبية؛ في حين لم تظهر فروق بين المجموعتين في الاختبار نفسه عند مهارة الاستقراء. *لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسطي درجات المجموعتين الضابطة والتجريبية في التطبيق البعدي لمقياس عادات العقل. وأوصى البحث بتدريب المعلمين قبل وأثناء الخدمة على استخدام نموذج وودز في تدريس العلوم للمرحلة المتوسطة؛ لدوره الفاعل في تنمية التفكير الاستدلالي، وتضمين دليل المعلّم لمادة العلوم تطبيقات وأنشطة عملية لاستخدام نموذج وودز.

The research aims to reveal the effectiveness of using a Woods' Paradigm in the teaching of science to promote deductive thinking and habits of mind to the average third-grade students, the researcher applied the quasi-experimental methodology which had been based on (the pre/post designing) of two groups experimental and control group, The tools: a test of deductive reasoning and a measure of the habits of the mind after verification of their validity and reliability.Tools applied on a random sample of (58) students , (28) the experimental group, and (30) the control group, After data collection and statistical analysis, the Results: There are significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the posttest application to test the deductive thinking in deductive skill, and the all the test, to the experimental group, while the differences between the two groups did not show up in the same test at the inductive skill. No statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the posttest application in scale habits of mind.
