The United Kingdom is a world leader on foreign policy – but it is not at all clear how it can maintain that influenceafter the political status quo has been smashed by the 52-48% decision of the people to leave the European Union after 43 years of membership. It will be sometime before Britain would be able and eager to take the initiative in the MENA region once again. The new government will be seeking a "business as usual" approach, but with little enthusiasm for any major commitments or initiatives.
