هدف البحث إلى التعرف على مستوى تضمين مهارات الاستقصاء في الأنشطة العملية في مقرر الكيمياء للصف الأول الثانوي في المملكة العربية السعودية، وواقع ممارستها، بالاعتماد على جدول المواصفات (Rubric) لمهارات الاستقصاء ومستوياتها التي قدّمها المجلس الوطني الأمريكي للبحث (NRC, 2000). وتكوَّن مجتمع البحث وعينته من جميع الأنشطة العملية في مقرر الصف الأول الثانوي وعددها (36) نشاطاً، كما شمل مجتمع البحث كذلك جميع معلمي الكيمياء للصف الأول الثانوي في مدينة الرياض للعام الدراسي 1433-1434ه، ومثلته عينة من المعلمين بلغت (18) معلماً. واستخدمت في البحث أداتا التحليل، والملاحظة، بعد التأكد من صدقهما وثباتهما، إذ حُلّل محتوى جميع الأنشطة العملية باستخدام أداة التحليل، باعتماد النشاط العملي وحدةً متكاملة. وأشارت النتائج إلى أن مهارات: طرح الأسئلة العلمية، وإعطاء الأولوية للأدلة في الرد على الأسئلة، وصياغة التفسيرات من الأدلة؛ ضُمّنت في جميع الأنشطة العملية تقريباً، أما مهارتا: ربط التفسيرات بالمعرفة العلمية، والتواصل وتبرير التفسيرات؛ فكان تضمينهما ضعيفاً في الأنشطة العملية.كما استخدمت أداة الملاحظة لتحديد واقع ممارسة مهارات الاستقصاء، من خلال الفرص التي يتيحها المعلم للطلاب، بحيث تتم ملاحظة تنفيذ النشاط العملي الذي يجريه المعلم مع طلابه. وتوصل البحث إلى أن تسعةً من المعلمين في عينته لم ينفذوا الأنشطة العملية. أما المعلمون الذين لُوحظ تنفيذهم للأنشطة، فأظهرت النتائج أن (44%) منهم ينفذون الأنشطة العملية بأنفسهم، ولا يتيحون للطلاب فرصة ممارسة مهارات الاستقصاء، وأن (56%) منهم يتيحون الفرصة للطلاب لممارسة مهارات الاستقصاء بشكل جماعي، في أقل مستويات ممارسة المهارة، في حين لم يتح المعلمون للطلاب فرصة ممارسة مهارات الاستقصاء بشكل فردي. وأظهرت النتائج أن أكثر مهارات الاستقصاء التي يتيح المعلمون ممارستها؛ هي مهارة صياغة التفسيرات من الأدلة، وأن مهارة التواصل وتبرير التفسيرات لم تُتح للطلاب فرصة ممارستها مطلقاً. وبمقارنة نتائج التحليل مع واقع الممارسة اتضح أن مستوى ممارسة مهارات الاستقصاء أدنى من مستوى تضمينها في المقرر. وفي نهاية البحث قُدمت مجموعة من التوصيات والمقترحات، المتعلقة بمستوى تضمين مهارات الاستقصاء في الأنشطة العملية، وتطوير ممارستها الصفية.

This paper aimed to identify the inclusion levels of the essential features of inquiry in the scientific activities in the 10th grade chemistry textbooks in Saudi Arabia; it also aimed to identify the real practice of these features in the classrooms. The researchers adopted the table of specifications of the essential features of inquiry developed by the National Research Council (NRC, 2000). The population and sample for the textbook analysis were all 36 scientific activities in the textbooks; however, for the observation, the population was all 10th grade students in Riyadh in the year 1433-1434H; whereas the sample was 18 teachers. After assuring the validity and reliability the analysis and observation instruments, the researchers administered the two instruments. For the analysis, the results indicated that asking questions, giving priorities for evidences, and developing explanations based on evidences are included in all activities; however, connecting explanations with knowledge of science and communicating and justifying the explanations were hardly included. For the observations of the classrooms, the researchers tried to observe how teachers give opportunities for students to practice the essential features of inquiry. The results indicated that 9 teachers did not perform the activities; however, for those who performed the activities, 44% of them did the activities by themselves, and 56% allowed students as group to perform the activities with lowest level of the features of inquiry; no teacher allowed students as individual to perform the activities. The results indicated that the highest features that students were allowed to perform was explanation based on evidences; however, communicating and justifying explanation was not practiced by students. Comparing the results of the analysis with the results of the observation indicated that the practices of the essential features on inquiry were lower than the inclusions of them in the textbooks. At the end of the paper some suggestions and recommendation were provided
