يعتبر الوقود الحيوي أحد أهم مصادر الطاقة المتجددة و التي يمكن أن تمنح فرضا هامة لتنمية القطاع الزراعي, لكن المشكل المطروح هنا يتمثل في أن معظم برامج إنتاج الوقود الحيوي ليست ذات جدوى اقتصادية و تنطوي على تكاليف اقتصادية, اجتماعية وبيئية كبيرة, من أهمها ارتفاع أسعار السلع الغذائية و تزايد حدة المنافسة بين إنتاج الوقود و إنتاج الغذاء على قاعدة موارد الإنتاج الزراعي, و هو ما من شأنه أن يخلف آثارا سلبية عديدة على أسواق السلع الزراعية. من خلال هذه الدراسة نهدف إلى تحليل آثار سياسة تنمية الوقود الحيوي في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية على أسواق الحبوب.

Biofuels offer a potential source of renewable energy and could open vast opportunities for agriculture, but the problem is that few biofuel programs are economically viable, and most of them have a high social and environmental costs, the upward pressure on food prices and increased competition for resources, it may create a potential conflict between food and fuel, and negative impacts on agricultural markets. This study analyzes the impact of the biofuel development policy in the US on agricultural products, particularly cereals.
