Aim: Diabetes mellitus is on the rise and is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Anthropometricmeasures have been shown to predict the association with diabetes mellitus. Body Mass Index (BMI), waist hip ratio (WHR), and Waist circumference have shown a positive effect with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Studies have been carried out in this part of world but results are inconclusive, so we considered it worthwhile to assess body fatdistribution in both sexes inpatients suffering from T2DM. Materials and methods: 100patients suffering from T2DM were enrolled in the study and were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 was males and Group 2 were females suffering from T2DM. After giving informed consent the patients underwent measurement of body fat distribution andvarious laboratory investigations. Results: 51 out of 100 patients suffering from T2DM were males. Males had a significantly (p<0.05) higher age, longer duration of disease and higher plasma glucose levels. We observed hip circumference that has significant (p<0.05) correlation with BMI, WHR; BMI with height, hipcircumference, WHR; WHR has BMI, height, hip circumference in both males and females. Conclusion: Our study showed that all the anthropometricmeasures were correlated with each other and moreso in cases of males.
